K301 Touchscreen is jerking when opening and closing (sometimes)

Hi.
I have had my K301 touchscreen since the summer now and it has been working fine. However, recently, I noticed that one in a while, the opening and closing of it to be very jerky and not smooth. For example, if I close it, it will flip down a bit, stop, flip down some more, stop, flip, stop, etc... until it is closed. This also may happen when opening the screen. Most of the time when I open or close it, it smoothly performs its task, but once in a while, this problem occurs. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with their screen? Should I be worried that it is starting to break or something? What exactly is happening?

Sounds like maybe 1 tooth broke off of a gear. Is the jerking fairly rythmic?

(That sure didn't sound right!) That is to say does it pause and start at a regular interval, like every second and a half?

No no...its definately not a physical problem like that, because I would have this problem everytime, and the opening sequence would be "fairly rythmic." The intervals of movement and pausing are actually not consistent. It might open smoothly to point a, pause for a second, open a bit more to point b (smoothly of course), pause again (but not necessarily for the same amount of time), and etc...until the open or close sequence is complete.

I guess I am just concerned over the periodic pauses in the opening/closing sequence because it doesnt seem normal and might suggest a failure waiting to happen :/

Hmm, the weird thing was that this problem occured AFTER I took the unit apart (I was trying to bypass the temperature sensor) and lubricated some of the gears.
