10.4 inch REAL size

I am looking at getting a 10.4 inch touch screen (probably lilliput). What are the dimensions of the screen once the cover of the screen is removed (ie: just the screen and circuit boards)?

Thanks.

The screen portion is 7" x 8-7/8". When you design for this, you should allow for wires coming off the top left face of the screen and the lower right side, as seen in these pictures:

These pictures and others are on page 4 of my worklog.

Best reply I have seen yet on that question.....very nice

The 10.4" Lilli is great. I love the picture and the touchscreen sensitivity/accuracy.

Thanks, bambam. I thought I'd add some more information to that:

The screen itself is about 7/16" thick, and there's a third cable that comes out of the back toward the left side.

You'll need additional depth behind the screen for the main printed circuit board (5-3/8" x 8-3/4") unless you plan to extend the cables. Allow well over an inch of thickness for the board plus standoffs, and remember that there are cables coming off the top and bottom of the PCB, and a very flat one that mounts to the back of it. My 1/4" standoffs are the bare minimum.

There's a second very small PCB (2-3/4" x 1") for the touchscreen; it's mounted with double-sided foam. Overall thickness is probably about 3/8".

I tried designing a mount for this before I got it, but I was way, way off because I had no idea about the layout required by cable connections, how to attach it, or even how big the components were. Once I got it out of its case, the path to a decent mount was much clearer.

Holy cow! Thanks guys/girls (can never tell online).

I'd forgotten I'd even posted this. I don't think I even had my first Skyline R31 at the time I started the thread. I have since bought one, written it off and bought another. Now that's off the road for repairs.

Once its running again its in line for a onboard computer. Gotta love a 20 year old car with more advanced entertainment than new cars!

Thanks to rdholtz and bambam for the great and specific info. The info will definitely come in handy. It seems there's a spot that seems like it's just MADE for a 10.4
