sbkenn is an unknown quantity at this point
Instruments, dials, alarms

I am looking for a configurable instrument panel rather than navigation or entertainment on a Linux box. Any ideas anyone ?. It will consist of 7 instruments for each of 2 engines. Large Revcounter, oil-t, oil-p, coolant(a), coolant(b), and 2 auxiliary gauges. Alarm points would be nice, but not vital.

Can you describe your project further? I'm working on something that will do some of what you are talking about...

There are various screenshots of different gauges and stuff I have been working on for my system. Its all pretty configurable.. but you will have to play with it a bit to get it to do what you want. I'm using a full PC with Phidgets for data capture.
