I'm using a Prolific-based USB-RS-232 serial adapter and the software that's referred to in this thread. I'm not a programmer though, I just find things and put it all together. I say any more than that and I'm going off-topic.

Success!!!
I've managed to tune/seek to stations and see the RDS info coming back, as well as setting the radio volume level and other functions.
All this was using a perl script on linuxice, with a USB-->Serial adapter. I'm trying to get a friend to code up a Serial port daemon to send/receive data over the serial port. We'll eventually make that update a state object of some kind, then drive UI from the state object.
Progress...slow but steady.

That excellent. I'm really looking forward to trying this out on linuxice. I've been playing with it via VirtualBox and it's definitely promising. nGhost2 looks even better.

I've been working on figuring out the protocol as well. I wish I would have seen this thread sooner and maybe I could have saved some time. Oh well. I have published what I have found so far at the below address and will continue to update it with anything new that I discover.

If any of you would like to share any information with me, please do; I'm sharing what I know. I've figured out enough to make the radio usable, but I have a feeling there is more to this radio than appears at first glance.
Miatacarpc, how did you discover the ability to change the volume levels of the radio? The included control head doesn't seem to have any functionality like that.

I'll PM you with the details I have. I relied on the work done by MitchJS, and reverse-engineered the protocol largely from his .NET app that he distributes with his cables, along with some serial port sniffing.

Done!!!
The control library is complete. HalNineThousand did a great job with it, and it's been merged in to the linuxICE svn repository. He's also coded up a command-line control app that allows you to control the radio using a set of commands. The library includes some cool features like device auto-discovery, and it works with MithJS's cables, both as both direct serial connection and with a USB-serial adaptor.
The linuxice folks are working on adding some UI, and will hopefully we'll have some screenshots soon.
Thanks to HalNineThousand for doing a great job.

So does anyone want to share this protocol publically? It'd be great to not have to sniff a whole bunch of reports to code this up
Im writing my software in Delphi (pascal) and I could share whatever I come up with, although I don't think anyone really uses Delphi nowadays.
