Eee PC distro for car pc.

Just wondering if anyone has successfully turned a stock Eee PC with the version of Xandros on it into a car PC and how they did so. I'm running into dependency issues when trying to install the front ends and with the software they need to run.

I don't have an EEE Pc, but I have encountered many difficulties with dependencies and incompatible versions for many things.

I suspect that this is largely due to projects using Ubuntu as a base, and Ubuntu has a tendency to modify pre-existing code to work better in Ubuntu- but which makes anything built on THAT require the custom Ubuntu versions, which are generally not released for OR compatible WITH any other version of linux.

I believe that Xandros often does similar things.

That said, I did finally manage to get the svn version of NGhost working (in part) in Debian Etch.

It took a lot of manual fixing of dependencies to compile the svn version of NGhost successfully, of course- a good few hours of ./configure, make, search for software to fix dependency error, repeat.

And once done, it is... buggy. I am not sure if this is due to bugs in the svn version, or compatibility issues between the versions of code I installed in Debian Etch and the originally expected versions the devs use.

But you MAY be able to get it going and it may be possible to get everything working 100%- I have too much to do to spend ALL my time on this, but I keep hacking at it when I can.

thanks in part to kazer's complaints and kshots work, nghost's configure should be a lot less painful. It'll provide a summery now of needed packages rather than erring out one by one.
