iGO 8 running on 'nix
Just thought I would share that iGO8 GPS software runs very good on my FreeBSD machine under wine 1.1.4. It actually loads faster than it does on windows! It was very simple to do just run 'wine iGo_PC.exe' in the iGO root folder. So far everything works good, just wanted to share since GPS is such a gray area in linux. So I may be moving over to linux in the truck since iGO is my favorite GPS app, and there is now supprt for other devices like HDradio too!
Keep up the great work guys.

I decided to put this to the test and programmed a 13 hour trip from the bottom of Michigan to the farthest point in the upper peninsula and started the simulate mode. Well it's been working away now for a few hours without issue spitting out full directions.

where does one get iGo 8? this looks very promising!
also dinuxlt i'm interested in your matchbox set up! i've been a fluxbox user for years but matchbox looks like it'd be better for in the car, any pointers, thoughts, config files?!

Wow, that is great! Thanks for the update. I've always wanted to go Linux but gps capability was the stumbling block. IGO is my favorite so I will definitely put this on the testbench now!
Thanks again
Oh, I'm assuming you are running IGO8 PC(?)

Yes, running iGO8 PC version. Everything is stable as far as I'm concerned. The route completed successfully and the app is still up and running a few days later.
So I am thinking about setting up a testbox with FreeBSD+nGhost+iGO8 for carPC use.
