Lilliput 7" TS with Debian Install

Hope someone with experience in this can offer some advice. I am running Debian Lenny, kernel 2.6.29.4 and trying to install the Lilliput drivers for the 7" touchscreen.

Keep getting an error running make for Makefile 1249, which appears to be in the xf86drv directory running that makefile. The line in that makefile reads:
InstallLinkKitLibrary(xf86,$(LINKKITDIR)/lib86)

Is there a file that I am missing to install or do I have a bad link setup? The Makefile under this directory was Makefile~ which I renamed to Makefile.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Henry

What drivers are you trying to install? THe ones that came with your lilliput? Are they TouchKit/Egalax drivers? Are they evtouch drivers?

I personally use the Egalax/TouchKit drivers with all my TSs (lilliput and xenarc). There's a bunch of threads in this forum on how to get it installed, it's pretty simple.

I am using the factory disc. Also I have tried downloading directly from http://www.lilliput.com.cn/en/service02.php and end up with the same result.

I will look through the board again. The system is a bare bone Lenny install, so there may be a package dependency we are missing the install does not show the dependency. I have discovered a number of people who ran into the same error and eventually got it to work but they never posted the missing piece.

I appreciate whatever help you may provide.

I used the drivers both supplied in the box and from the lilliput website. Both produced the problem mentioned. I had looked through the forums and unfortunately did not find a solution yet. Also spent sometime looking online, will this problem is referenced and ultimately they got it working but never mentioned the steps to get it going.

I am working from a barebone Lenny install with an upgraded kernel with a fluxbox frontend. So there may be a package missing but the error does not provide insight as to the problem.

Thanks again if you can possibly have any suggestions.

I agree with unsungboxer, use the drivers from the eeti website: http://home.eeti.com.tw/web20/eGalax...inuxDriver.htm

The stable will support xserver version up to 1.5. and the beta will support 1.6. to find out which version you have:

Code:
dpkg -l | grep xserver-xorg

Once you download:

Code:
tar xzf eGalaxblahblahblah.tar.gz cd eGalax... sudo sh ./setup.sh (follow the onscreen instructions...) sudo reboot (when it comes up again:) sudo TouchKit (run the 4 point calibration under "tools")

Good luck.

I am trying out Ubuntu 9.04 (UNR), and the beta egalax drivers. The mouse is really jumpy. Anyone find a fix for this?

I"m currently having some troubles as well. However, my experience is tied generally to multi-touchscreen setup. Maybe try the Option "Rotation" "0" in the egalax section of your xorg.conf? I'm beta testing a pre-release on my setup. There are still bugs...

Wanted to say thanks to everyone for the advice. I ended up using as advised by several the Eeti website drivers.

As a cross reference it was a minimal install of Debian Lenny 2.6.26 w/o Desktop programs on the MP3 fleet spec computer with Toshiba 40gb hd. We later added in via apt-get apache, mysql-server, python, gcc, php5, x-windows-system, xfce4 and jdm. This gave the minimalist approach for the project I am working on.

Since it is backed up now I will be installing the other pieces to get this little box going.

Mmmmm... Sounds almost like a base LinuxICE2 install (minus xfce4, gcc and such). Keep up the good work!

Well the build is for a fleet deployment, hopefully. To be used by our truck drivers when they pickup and deliver loads. Plan on using a touchscreen through a web browser for them to input their data.

And yes I had given serious consideration to LinuxICE2. However, when Always Innovating confirmed that they will be using XFCE as their desktop and we have a couple Touchbooks on order for another part of the project it will it on the same platform.

We will have various other pieces completing the puzzle: WiFi Router, GPS, Cell Modem, and printer. The printer will be the next major challenge, in a week or two. Currently, putting some other software into deployment. Creating a button to give signal status through router and push data to the server. Also need to add a navigation feature, though haven't researched it in about a year. Completed a new mail server/IM server so we can reach people outside of office quickly. One more button to add to the computer. Maybe by end of July I can green light production.

I have tried numerous different things without any luck. Anyone else have any luck getting the Beta drivers to work properly with Ubunt 9.04? When I softly touch the screen it follows my finger, but it bounces to the top left corner of the screen as I release causing me to click the wrong icons.

I have even emailed the EETI guys, but am awaiting a response. Any ideas?

Unsungboxer: check and make sure the touch screen isn't pinched. It sounds like there is pressure on the touchscreen causing it to jump. I don't think this is a driver issue.

The screen works fine w/ Ubuntu 8.10 and WindowsXP. I believe it is the driver specifically for the new Linux Kernel. Is anyone successfully using the Egalax Drivers w/ Ubuntu 9.04?
