It's a USB flash drive and a bootable CD. You boot from the CD with the USB dongle inserted and you get a Linux 2.6 desktop with OpenOffice and some other apps installed.
They imply that using this dongle will make your compuer run faster: "Use the Computer-On-a-Stick when your PC or Laptop’s existing OS slows to a crawl or even fails." While I can see that some OS installs get slower over time because of various startup gunk, this is pretty dubious claim.
I suppose you could boot right from the dongle on PCs that support booting from USB.
Since you're carrying around the CD anyway, why not just use one of the Linux LiveCD distos out there? Oh, wait I guess you can save documents back to the flash drive. Well, that's something cool.

our security guys are going bonkers about these things. They think someone will walk in the door with one of these boot up the PC and steal data. It is possible but very unlikely in our environment. No one would care about the data we have.

Physical security is almost alwyas the best measure here. You don't need some fancy computer on a stick thing to steal, any USB drive (or mp3 player, or blank CD-R or DVD-R, or ...) will do the trick. Basically, if you don't trust the people walking around your PCs you're sunk.

knoppix > all other linux live distros. Because debian (what knoppix is based off of) is so amazingly versatile and knoppix has every usefull linux app preinstalled on the CD.

the major security about it is i can take it with me in my pocket.so no one can watch my keystrokes and do many other **** with my computer.i can relax at lunch and even take with me when i am on outing to turn any other computer to my computer.

My sons been doing this for a long time.

He has a memorystick loaded with it. He takes it to school so he can use Firefox instead of IE. The school computers will boot a USB device.
A generic 128 stick was on sale for $15. DSLinux was free.
