will it support flac playback?

Yes it will support flac, and hopefully every other codec under the sun.

Eubey:

If you want to create a website for it go ahead. As you know I already have a forum set up for it but we are early enough that we can change if you want to put a forum up. As is, the ICE Linux forum is partnered with the nGhost forum. To avoid confusion maybe it's best to keep them separate. If no one cares though, you can always link your website to the forum.

What happened?
One month and no more posts? I was looking forward to seeing a completed project at some point... You guys give up??

Also, there was talk of this being a VIA specific car distro. Any chance of that being a "lite" version of one with added support for Intel and AMD/SIS based ITX boards? Maybe a version for each platform?

Depending on where you live geographically there are open source solutions for GPS. Alternatively, take a look at what Timekiller has done with iGuidance in this post with video.

Which package Linux ICE will include is still being debated but when it all comes down to the line, it may include several different open source GPS solutions.

cheers,

Kev

PS +1 for ubuntu!

i live in western europe, too (CH) - and i'd like to have freely (not only free price, but freely redistribuable..) available maps, that's why i participate in OpenStreetMap - it's very quickly growing!
alternatively look at map-packages you can use with navit (i haven't tried that one yet)
