The Config file was right where you said it was, Kev000. Thanks! I have a couple ideas that you might be interested in implementing. Don't get me wrong, Nghost is a rather impressive piece of software already, but I have a few suggestions to make it even better.

First up is the current lack of an EQ. Anyone that has time in Windows knows and loves Winamp's 10 band plus preamp EQ. This addition would be a major selling point for Nghost. Since Audacious is very similar to Winamp in form and function, you might consider using its EQ code to implement this feature.

Also, a good mixer would be a very welcome addition especially for us SB Live users who can use the PCM slider for front/rear balance control. Combine it with Winamp/Audacious's Left/Right balance slider and you'd have a setup very similar to a regular car headunit's balance/fader controls. Perhaps these could be implemented on their own button, aptly titled "Mixer"

Last, any word on an applet for the Headunit Quality Radio? That would be a very welcome addition to Nghost too.

heh, we are always willing to try to make it even better .

Eq would be nice. And we have planned on it for a long time. we'll try to slip that into ng3.

I don't know of an applet for headunit quality radio though

2.0.2 won't compile on 9.04 but the latest code from svn will. Here's another thread discussing the problem and solutions: http://forums.openice.org/viewtopic....t=504&start=30

I've been hunting through the openice site today and was looking for an actual download link to the Icepanel files. So far, all I have found is a mobius strip of links going back and forth between the Nghost and Icepanel pages, but no actual "click here to download icepanel" page and it's annoying me to no end.

Could someone please clue me in on this? A download link would be a great step in the right direction.

http://wiki.openice.org/index.php/Icepanel

Take a look at the "Download" section for a link. I'm not sure if this is the page you are referring to as not having the link though. When you get to the sf.net page, click on the "code" tab. The only access to icepanel at the moment is to compile it from source.

That said, I'll have some packages for ubuntu built soon and posted on linuxice.openice.org/packages.

installed, how to run?

Hi,

Let me start off by saying i am very new to linux/ubuntu(about 3 hours of experience).

I believe i have successfully installed libnghost and nghost2 using the svn method, i had to install about 15 dependencies to get this to work but its finally installed. Im on a ps3 running ubuntu 8.10.

I was thrilled that it got installed this time around but soon came to the realization that i do not know what to do next or how to start up this application

I know its a rather trivial request but can anyone help me out on where to go after the install and how to startup the application?

Thanks

Hi there, this was page 3 of this thread... is this what you need ?

Qoute from kev00

"sorry about the current lack of documentation. make sure your db setting in nghost.conf is pointing to a valid dir/file. Other than that, run nscan and nghost and you should be in business.
Code:

EG

nscan
nghost
"
