Really, the more eyes I can get on LinuxICE at this point the better. I'm really excited about the progress it has made in the next release. It's becoming quite stable.

LinuxICE addresses some major concerns that we in the forums try to solve fast booting/fast resume being one major one for a lot of people.

Last update: after messing a bit in the BIOS, i timed the 9.10 based LinuxICE as 16.08s from POST. Not bad.

) its not 9 seconds-but good to see your making progress.

Alright heres the big question though since most forum members don't use full startup and full shutdown. How long for resume from s3 and resume from hibernate? Because I run win7 which gives me ~4second resume from hibernate and 1-2sec resume from s3.

Hibernate in 9.10 (not using the tuxonice patches -which are faster), produced a total boot time of 18.82 seconds. That's about 2 seconds slower than cold boot :P. I'll try stock linuxICE when I get the chance which has the tuxonice patched kernel built in. I may see if I can patch this kernel. I tried last night to do a custom build, but something screwy happened and I lost my kernel config

I couldn't even time the s3 resume. It was too fast... probably <1s.

I just installed a custom Atom specific kernel to my 9.10 LinuxICE2 system. I applied the tuxonice patches and removed a lot of unneeded drivers. The result is a much faster, 3mb kernel

(as opposed to ubuntu's default 60+mb kernel). Tuxonice is *nice*. It uses LZO compression with results of 30%-50% to copy the contents of ram to the disk. Furthermore, it uses both cores on the atom330 to do the compression/decompression. The results are amazing over the default hibernate code. Much, *much* faster hibernates and resumes.

Also, the tuxonice ppa now has kernels for 9.10.

Adding the ubuntu-boot ppa to your apt sources should improve boot speed a little bit as well.
