I can't help you unless you can verify that the md5 matches the one above. After that, then we can get into the root of the problem .

Im getting error 18, so pretty much its having trouble grabbing the kernel, im gonna try making a seperate boot partition and see if that solves the problem. Btw, my mobo is a via epia m10000. If that has any effect on anything.

does your usb come up as /dev/sda? /dev/sdb? you may neet to change the "root" from hd0,0 to hd1,0 etc to find your kernel... If you installed directly to your usb stick, there shouldn't be a problem with grub.

Thats what I was thinking, but here I am having a problem with booting, I tried copying the drive to another comp, then I formatted it, installed grub by itself, manually edited the .ls, then copied everything else over, didnt work, Im gonna try a complete reinstal, and see if that helps.

One of the problems during install, was the live cd kept mounting the thumb drive, which made it very hard to format properly, Im starting to think that may be root of the problem.

skinning the desktop and window manager isn't too tough. There are docs to do that in the wiki. The splash screen requires re-compiling so it can be a bit more difficult.
LinuxICE will install to a USB Flash stick. Alpha4 had problems with this so I would hang on until the Beta1 release.

Hi
kev000 have you got a TODO list up yet?
I was in the process of rolling my own setup for a carpc and having also sorts of problems with the kernel working with the touchscreen (it worked with one kernel, then I upgraded to a newer kernel for better framebuffer support and it broke).
I just found this and would love to help, I'm in the process of downloading the torrent and I am happy to mirror it for every one else on HTTP as well as seeding when I can.
I would also like to help in other areas if I can

If you want to help you are more than welcome. Here is the updated TODO list for LinuxICE: http://nextabyte.com/wiki/index.php?title=TODO
There are some testing/debugging stuff but the big thing for beta1 is packaging of navit and its dependencies.
Beta1 is really overdue. I've been really busy lately with nghost/nghost2 related things to get beta1 out.
The biggest thing that's been sucking up my time that will be ready for the final is called " icepanel". It's an opengl'd panel/dock application that will replace the current matchbox panel. It will act as a launcher for custom apps/scripts/commands along with be able to control via sockets nghost and hopefully some other apps (kazer:navit?). I'll try to get a video up as it progresses more.

As promised, here is a demo video of the LinuxICE icepanel. The main feature of this carpc friendly dock is its server/client structure that will allow it client plugins to connect to it. Voice recognition and gesture plugins are already in development. nGhost 1.1 will be able to connect with it also.
More info can be found on the wiki page:

Awesome work kev, looking forward to the beta1 release as GPS integration is what is really holding me back from using linux in the car.
