Lilliput driver error

Well,
Tried to find the answer to this in the forums but could not find it. I have the Lilliput 701 and am trying to get it to work with an Intel Mac Mini. I have downloaded the drivers from here:
http://www.lilliput.com.cn/eng/service.asp
http://cartft.com/support/drivers/TFT/tftdrivers/
http://www.eeti.com.tw/web20/eg/drivers.htm
http://www.egalax.com.tw/eg/drivers.htm
But none of those drivers work. As I am installing the driver, it says there has been an error and closes. The screen works great I can see the entire screen and it looks good. But the driver will not install and as such I have no touch screen goodness which sucks. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Are you sure you downloaded the Intel version and not the PPC? At least on the eGalax site they are right next to each other.

I downloaded the driver from the eGalax site a few weeks ago when I needed to re-OS my Intel Mini and it has been working fine.

Thanks for your help guys, super awesome!
PepsiBobby: thanks for the link. I will try that tonight
Iamgnat: I did try the Intel drivers, but having no success with any of them leads me to believe there is something wrong with the screen, or with the Mac. The USB port works, so must be the screen. I disassembled it and checked the solder, etc and everthing seems to be in order, so maybe the cable is broken somewhere?

If the drivers won't install on the Mac (Bobby's app still requires that the drivers are installed), then it has nothing to do with the screen. I've never actually installed the drivers with the LCD connected to the Mini during the install so it should have no impact even if it was bad.

In the installer, after it says it fails check the install log before you quit the installer (I believe it is under the Window menu). Sometimes that log can give useful information.

You might also try the time-tested-even-though-it-should-have-no-effect "Repair Permissions" and/or Verify/Repair the disk (both are in Disk Utility, boot from your install disk for the best results). Something could be wrong with your disk/directory structure.

PS: For a free trip to Japan, i'd be happy to come troubleshoot it

Iamgnat,
Ha Ha Ha *lol* that was a good one. If I could aford a plane ticket, I would fly you here as I am pulling my hair out. To top it off I have not really messed with a Mac for a few years and my sword is a bit rusty. What is repair permissions? I am not familiar with that. Is there a possibilty that I don't have permission to install the driver? Cause when I open the package, and it begins to install, it asks for a password and I just left it blank but then it continues to install and then hits the error. I will feel mucho baca(japanese for idiot)if that was the problem all along. But i have installed other items without difficulty. Is it because it is hardware? But should not be because I installed a Firewave and Powermate and both work flawless(and kick a$$ I might add). What do you think? Again, thanks for your help!

The lack of password is probably your problem as it requires root (Unix super user) permissions to install kernel extensions (device drivers). The password it was asking for (assuming that your user is configured to administer the computer) is the password for the account your are logged in with (if it is not an admin account, you need to supply an admin user name too).

If supplying the password doesn't work, try the things I mentioned above. Here are the steps:
* You can skip #1 and #2 and use Disk Utility while running off your HDD, but you can only verify, you can't repair if there are issues (maybe perms, but definitely not the disk).

1) Reboot using the Install disc 1 (insert the DVD and hold the C key down while the Mini restarts).
2) Click through the windows until you get a menu bar at the top.
3) Utilities -> Disk Utility.
4) Select your Disk (the name you see it as on your desktop) on the left side.
5) You should have Verify and Repair permissions buttons, select the repair button.
6) When it is done select the disk on the left side (something like disks1d3 or some such, it's the parent of your drive name).
7) Now you should have (you might have before, but doing on the disk itself is better) Verify and Repair Disk buttons. Use the repair button.
8) Quit Disk Utility, then Utilities -> Startup Disk and select your drive and reboot.

Both tasks take awhile depending on the size of your disk (and the Perms task also depends on how much is on the disk (more = slower)).

If the Repair Disk fails, try running it again (sometimes it takes a few times) but if it continues to fail you probably have a bad disk.

Hope that helps.

Dood-
you are the man! I will try all that when I get home. I don't have the DVD(i got a good deal on the mini on ebay)so I will have to get that. Was gonna get one anyway....So I am not sure if my computer has a password as the person I bought it from wiped the drive first. I will have to check. Again, thanks.

That sucks

Yes it has a password, it's just a question of what it is. You can reset the password, but you need the install disks. Until 10.5 comes out, you can't buy a copy of OSX for Intel based Macs, just PPC. You might try contacting Apple and explaining that you got it second hand but didn't get the install disks, they might work something out for you.

Iamgnat,
*hangs head in shame* I just reset the password in the user account, an voila! It worked. I guess I should just put the mini back in the box and return it to the manufacturer because I can't work it. Thanks for your help. If I can think of anything else to cry about, I'll be sure to post it.

I sometimes find that I'm making something more complicated than it is in OSX. It can be so simple that it actually seems UN-intuitive.

Bugbyte and Iamgnat,
I am so used to working with PC that i am used to the mentality of 'if it is not difficult or time consuming, it is not worth while or it must be broken.' I had forgotten how easy a mac is. I am seriously considering buying another one for the office. I am almost done with the Jeep PC, i'll be sure to post pics when finished. Just have to rout a few more cables. Thanks for all your help.
I just had an epiphany, PC's are like cats, you don't own them-they own you. Macs are like dogs, a man's best friend!

Yeah, when I moved back to Macs (had already ditched 98 and been running Linux for about 6 months), it took me an hour or so to figure out how to delete a clip from iMovie. I mean really, who just drags and drops things
