Couple of questions...

I've got just a couple of questions for you guys.

I'm planning on putting a G3 mini in my 04 Cavalier, and I was wondering if an external, 3.5" hard drive would be ok to use in addition to the internal. I'm not sure of this since desktop hard drives are not as accustomed to vibration as a laptop drive.

Also, are there any handsfree bluetooth options for using a cell phone on OS X? As in , can I use a program to choose phone numbers to call and it dials the number on my phone and routes it through my car speakers?

Thanks in advance guys.

I hope you mean a G4 Mini

Some people use 3.5" drives, but as you pointed out they made to sit on nice stable desks and not be bounced around a lot. I would suggest the extra money to get a 2.5" drive to be sure.

BluePhoneElite 2 (still in beta) lets you use handsfree with a compatible cell phone. There has been a thread or two in this forum about it.

3.5" drives are cheap and work great in the car. Even if they fail at twice the rate as 2.5 drives, they're a bargain. I've used 3.5 drives in my car setup and 2.5 drives. They both worked great and neither one failed.

2.5 drives commonly use fluid bearings which can freeze at very low temperatures and prevent your car pc from starting until the fluid warms up. 3.5 ball bearing drives don't.

You can find more information on this topic by checking out the laptop vs. desktop thread in the FAQ Emporium.
