sweet

similar to the concept I am using with Indigo (home automation software for mac). I load up a custom ajax page from the Indigo web server and I can control my entire house from a touchscreen/remote interface on the iPhone!

Do you use it in your carputer? How do you provide the infrared light source?

why use infrared use the bluetooth that all wiimotes have and you are good. i have never used it on a mac, but the PC version is interesting to say the best.

A little OT, but I was getting some similar thoughts the other day when I saw the new open source OpenMoko phone.

http://www.openmoko.com/

This should be fun when the next version with wifi comes out

I tried the wiimote with my Mac Mini. It works fine for pressing buttons on the wiimote to make it do things. But, to be able to point at the screen and guide a cursor with it you need a source similar to the sensor bar on the Wii.

In the demo video I saw they used a tea candle. Maybe it wasn't infrared. But it needed some type of light source for the wiimote to point at.

i just use the virtual mouse if i really need to move the cursor around. the software is very customizeable so you can set it up almost any way you like.

Anyone

with QCar, a rotary device for control, non touchscreen, and an iPhone? Wondering if the iPhone (with some software like remotebuddy) can provide much over what PE nav and QCar offer in terms of usability. I am thinking of pursuing this route in a future car so i wouldn't have to replace the OEM nav display, but could just use aux in to it.
