Get rid of compression noise

In my mac car I can hear the compression of mp3's and its really distracting. Songs that come through fine in the house sound distorted sometimes beyond listening in the car. Anyway to get rid of the compression noise?

I doubt it is the Mac. What is the bit rate? You need a minimum of 192 for it to sound decent.

yeah, I know its not the mac. But is there like some kind of pre-amp sort of software to put that noise down? The bitrate does suck for most of my songs. The ones I personally ripped off CD's sound real good. But I just wish the other ones were as seemless as they are when played inside or off an ipod.

Do you think the GLI could have something have something to do with it? I've been planning to go with a REAL amp and get rid of the GLI with the new amp.. because I think my current amp is NOT grounded.. I feel like the GLI is emphasizing the noise.

I'm using iTunes with CarFrontEnd..
Is there a way to set the equalizer to get rid of it?

I know GLI's can affect the frequencies and act as a filter sometimes.

How does it sound if you plug headphones directly into the Mini? If it still sounds bad, that would tell you something.

i had a similar problem, turned out what happened was i had an eq running on the mac and then had another eq running in the audio system in my car. having the two running at the same time really jacked up my sound. turning off all eq settings on the mac fixed the problem
