Mac GPS software

Hi guys, Im planing on migrating from carPC to carMacmini during the next summer. My biggest question is what the integration looks like and which GPS software is the best to work with ICE3 front end.

I know that there's nothing like iGuidance in windows, but I would like to have your impression on this feature since it's an essential for me.

I'll start a worklog thread soon on this project !

Thanks for you answers!

I see that this is the common problem that every MacCar user faces.

I finally installed VirtualBox and created a new XP sp3 fresh. I then installed iGuidance4 UMPC without an issue. Here's how I did it...

1- Installed iGuidance
2- Created an empty USB filter in the VB settings
3- Plugged in my USB Navibe GM720 receiver
4- Installed the Prolific GPS driver for XP
5- Rebooted my VB
6- Started iGuidance !! et Voilà!

Now, is there anybody here that know how I can integrate this into my ICE3 FrontEnd?

1 - I was thinking about adding my XP-VB to the DashBoard but I dont know if this is possible.
2 - Use the Spaces and play it full screen on a specific Spaces...

What you guys think ?

Thanks for you help!

this is def the best way to get gps on the mac right now. as far as integrating directly into a FE, i don't believe any of the mac FEs support this feature at this time. Most people use spaces and a griffin powermate, to switch between the FE and GPS

Hey VMTsquad, I was wondering if the setup with iGuidance is still working for you. I want some input before I invested in iGuidance. Thanks.

You could also install XP directly in your MAC and use any of the popular Windows FEs.

^^The point is I got BORED and FrUSTRATED with all Windows base frontEND. MAC is way more stable and simple. Add the MAC possibilities with the ICE3 FrontEnd and there's no way I'll go back with Windows...

I'll have some time this week to work on an integrated of iGuidance runing on a VirtualBox or Fusion with the ICE3 FrontEND.

Project07MACry: Yes the iGuidance4.0 is just working great into a virtual XP. I didnt try all the features yet since I broke my touch screen at the begining of the summer. Like I said I'll have some time this week to work on a integration of iGuidance with the ICE3 FrontEnd...I'll keep you guys in touch..

For the record, Garmin Mobile PC works great here via Fusion.

GPS Software on OSX

I had macmini install I loved it except when I hit a NYC bump it would reboot, Thankfully I never fragged my OS but I was a pain none-the-less. As far as the GPS software I ran Paralells with xp installed the in the Paralells VM was Iguidance it ran smoothly, and I loved ICE3 skins very nice but its the whole functionality issue I wish the music was truly integrated with itunes it just plays whatever in your itunes library but no advance search or genre sort features. I am now back on a PC and I am contemplating installing a Thin Client running Windows XP embedded.

I already tried iGuidance in Fusion, next step is to try it with UNITY. Unity is the feature from VMFusion that can run apps embeded in MAC.

I use Garmin Mobile PC in Fusion fullscreen. I have Spaces set up with ICE3 in Space 1 and Fusion/Mobile PC in Space 2. I switch between them with a Griffin PowerMate. I find Mobile PC to be much friendlier than iGuidance.

I may be going back a step but, LOL. There is a "GPS" option on ICE3. are we able to link any GPS systems to this option in ICE3?
