I think the box looks good but it presents a problem for mounting, since the drive is front slot loading and built-in. Not to mention that the price is a bit steep for those specs (but I won't start a PC vs. Mac performance war on this thread )... and then there's the #1 issue... software. Destinator, Frodo and most (if not all) of the best front-ends and supporting software are made for the PC. Atlhough I'm sure there's stuff equally as good for Mac... I just haven't seen it yet.

Before the MAc mini there was no compelling reason for a Mac front-end. Now, I think thngs might change.
BTW, the lilliput already works with Macs so for most of us it would be plug and play.

beaten...
Yeah, I was going to post this too. I'd almost consider trading in my VIA for a mac, except for the lack of software Actually, the only thing I think is really lacking for linux\mac\bsd OS's is decent GPS software.
Hopefully we won't have to wait too long though.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against it... if the new box spurs competition on that end, then so be it. The reason why we have so many GOOD choices now when it comes to front-ends is because people didn't sleep on them. If your front-end doesn't have X, Y and Z, or if you take too long to update it, people start feeling around for whatever else is available...
I have problems with the new Mac box right off the bat as I mentioned, but if it steps up the Mac game on the Car PC arena, then nobody loses IMO.

I was coming here to post the same thread. I saw the size of this thing and it just screamed car-pc to me. I'm a die hard PC user, but I might make an exception for this tiny product. Just like everyone above, I wanted to know if there were any mac programs out there on par with the current PC heavyweights?
Also, does the fact that everything is all built in mean that this must be used with an inverter only?

The power supply is not built in .. it is an external box .. looks kind of like a laptop adaptor. I bet its output is 12v and 5v

Would this have built into bios turn on when AC power detected?
Also software would be an issue, since no frontends would work.

The mac is cool on its own, but for a car pc its probably gonna get real expensive and hard to find enternal devices for it. I know I already have 8 usb devices in my car and know only 2 that would definitly work with a mac.
Can't wait till they come out with the PC knock offs like this though. Small and built in 3D would be incredible.
