The screen mount looks awesome. I have some friends with a new mini, so I'll be trying to talk them into having an install...

Very nice! Though I don't really see the point in the two decently sized LCDs (what are those... 15"?) behind the front seats: who the heck is sitting back there?? Kidding... that's more of a show car setup, though I'm sure it would entertain any rugrats I tucked into the back.
What screen is he using up front? Looks like a motorized, retractable touchscreen.

I will try to take some closer pics for you, but understand if you don't have the exact same monitor it may not work the same. I used a hole on the side of my monitor where the stylus was to insert the alluminum rod near the top. I had to open up the monitor and I think even drill a little bit to allow the rod to insert. Then i had to insulate the alluminum from making contact with the pcb by covering the area with electrical tape. Please note you will void the warranty on your monitor when you open it and the lilliput monitors are sensitive, the ribbon cable inside can be damaged or unseated easily.
Good Luck!
Mike

I am using the 7" Lilliput Touch Screen XGA Car Monitor (Model 629GL 70 P/C/T). (purchased from ebay) It had problems with the cable right after I received it. I think it is an ok Monitor but can be dificult to see in a convertible. It does have the touch screen which I really like, but lowers the brightness slightly and provides more of a mat finnish to the screen. (creates a diferent kind of glare)
It ended up that I cut the cable connector out that was bad and soldered the wires together. This actually helped reduce the bulk of connectors that would have been visible 3" below the screen. Very small wire to work with though. It took hours to do.
Good luck!
Mike

Power source?
How hard was it to wire up the power source on the MINI COOPER?

Very easy! I ran a fused wire from the battery and another from the accessory plug that is switched by the ignition.

Here is the latest! I've just heard my car is in the September "MacWorld" magazine!
Here is my updated front end using CCAR with a color change to match my car.

quick question... what do you do when you want to turn your car off? does the mac turn off or do you have to wait till it turns off before you can shut off the car? and when you turn on the car, what happens then?

I just turn my car off. After 45 seconds the power to the Mac mini is then cut off by the p1900 carnetix power supply.(unfortunately this is like pulling the plug) Then when I turn my car back on the power supply sends a signal to the computer to turn it on. This has worked great so far. I can also enable the sleep mode which the power supply would just put it to sleep. Instant wake up that way. But, computer will draw power in the sleep mode.
Hope this helps
Mike
