Mac Mini, multiple monitors - VGA screens only?
Hi,
I did a search but didn't find what I was looking for. I plan on putting in a second monitor for my kid's movies. I realize that I can use a splitter to mirror the display to a backseat monitor.
But does it have to be a VGA monitor? I don't think my kid needs more than a pretty cheap LCD screen just to watch movies in the back seat. I'd really like to use the Mac Mini to do my carputer, but it seems like this could be a big negative.
Thanks...

The Mac mini has one video output - and you can get an s-video adapter for it which I assume you want. However, you then lose the VGA connection. Basically, you either mirror the monitor with a vga splitter or an s-video splitter - you can't have both.

Thanks,
That Tritton product is great, but I was hoping to find a way to use a cheap LCD screen instead of having to buy a second VGA monitor.
I don't mind if all monitors show the same image, but I would mind having to spend at least $250 for each additional monitor.

Just get the S-video adaptor and split the VGA, put the adaptor on it and run the result to the cheapo screen.

Exactly what bugbyte said get a VGA splitter cable then 1 goes to VGA screen the other goes to a VGA Converter (S-video or Composite)
I can get a VGA Converter for composite for $100 AUD and the thing is as big as a lighter just a bit thicker
This would be the answer u want
EDIT: Have a look at this http://www1.jaycar.com.au/productVie...Max=&SUBCATID=
thats what i'm talking about
Ignore the USB cable as is only used to power this device

WOAH! i was DEFINITELY not aware that it was possible to drive a monitor over USB. I really need this for my silly little iBook that i have lying around (which will probably be what winds up driving my dashPC.
