Audio problems

I installed a Mac Mini in my Jeep, and when I plug it into the aux input i get low volume and really bad interference. Strange, works fine in the house... Any idea? Maybe a grounding problem?

Either a ground loop or power interference. If moving the audio cable away from the power doesnt fix it, try a ground loop isolator from radiohack.

Are you using an inverter?

I installed mine and had the same buzz/low volume w/ an inverter. Tried grounding the case, didn't work. Ran an extension cord and plugged it into the wall. Problem solved. I'm hoping the DC power supply solves this problem.

I'm using an inverter and when first installing my CarPC, I had really bad ground loop noise whenever the inverter was turned on, the computer's PS was plugged INTO the inverter AND I had the AUX line as the source on my HU. If I disconnected the PSU from the inverter, the sound would go away.

Solution: I bought a 3-to-2 prong outlet adapter and ran a wire from the neutral prong to the chassis.

What's the voltage on the Mini's audio out?

I have been running my mac mini off an inverter for weeks, and only had noise when the audio cable neared the power cable during reorganization. Maybe my inverter just doesn't suck as much. I do, however, recommend getting the p1900 and doing a proper wiring and grounding...

I'm using the p1900 and have no ground noise problems at all. Also have no noise problems with the motor running. I couldn't be happier. My stock Head unit has Auxillary In and it also has a gain control for Aux in. I set mine at 5.
