It appears that if you have a Keyspan serial to USB converter and an NMEA compatible receiver that you can use any Nav program that reads standard NMEA sentences.
I know my Royaltek Sapphire spits out standard NMEA protocol. It has a USB output and on the PC I use a software driver to port the data from USB to serial port.
Since I don't need a serial port converter, it seems like I could just plug in the receiver and if it is recognized by the USB port, and the nav software gives you the option of using a GPS receiver on the USB port, it might work?
Can anyone running Route 66 give me an idea of how they are connecting their receiver to their Mac?
The GPSy page has a demo download that works for 15 minutes at a time. I may go through the effort of digging my GPS cable out of my console and trying the free software just to see.
If it works, I'm sending a giant fruit basket to Shakes.
