Hope this helps as this thread is pretty old and I prior to making this tutorial still hadn't found any information on this display.

To make sure the computer boots into 800x480, turn off System resolutions, and uncheck all resolutions above your custom 800x480 (but leave the 640x480 as a fail safe.)

Lilliput Problems

So, I just bought one of the new Lilliputs with the LED backlit screen. I worked for a few hours using the settings in this post with DisplayConfigX with no luck at all. I would screen share with the mac mini and set up the config, and then restart, and the screen would just show garbage with the 800 x 480 resolution. And, sometimes, would go into this weird safe mode type thing where it showed only 4 basic resolutions @ 60 Hz with no desktop background. If i ever did get a picture at say, 800x600 the screen was very, very dim and there was lots of flickering, even at the right Hz setting. I had thought maybe the display was defected and was going to send it back.

Before I did that though I decided to try to connect the display to my PC. I plugged it in, and it worked perfectly. It defaulted to 800x480 and it was bright and clear. So, I then plugged it back into the mac mini, and it automatically came up with the DisplayConfigX resolution I had set up previously and saved. And, it was bright and clear as well.

I'm thinking maybe there was some sort of internal calibration that needed to be done with the display at the correct resolution/setting before it worked. So, just a tip for anybody struggling with getting the DisplayConfigX settings working (it seems there's a few in this thread) Try connecting the display to a PC first and then back into the mac mini.
