macmini install planned for chevy SSR, should be sweet

this is what i'm planning, but have a few questions:

CAR/AUDIO
2005 Chevy SSR
Eclipse EQ
JL 500/1 amp
two JL 10w3 subs
JL 300/2 amp
component speakers TBD
ir remote from compusa
pac-1 ir switch (to integrate steering wheel controls)

CARPUTER
Mac Mini (hopefully installed in center console, still TBD)
double-din lilli (subaru build)
Carnetix 1900

I'm not concerned with nav at this point - just want easy to use mp3 and video (frontrow).

My questions are:

1) volume control/att - is there a way to have itunes/frontrow dim the volume at sleep, and gradually raise it up at wake? don't want to get blasted as the mini wakes up when i turn the car on

2) anything on the hardware side i'm missing?

the hu to be replaced, steering wheel controls to integrate, and center console. I'm hoping the console can be cut enough to get the mini in there comfortable, we'll see...

You cn write an apple script for your volume thing and have it run when it wakes and have another when it sleeps. This should be a really sweet build, i think the screen will fit just fine.
