Sounds like a bad cable or insufficient power to a USB hub.

256mb ram

and 14ft of usb between the monitor and mini.

Yup, sounds like a cable issue. Get a hub.

Seems like a neat program but for some reason I couldnt quit out of it. Remember though I am a mac newbie I tried to click on the menu, wouldnt let me click. I tried ctrl+q, yah windows keyboard, no dice. Any ideas? I had to hold the power button to shut down the mac mini and then reboot to get out of it.
