Mac Mini questions, possible FAQ

Hey guys,

I'm relatively new to the words of carputers and I think I'd like to have a mac mini in my car. I looked at all the options and mac mini seems the most powerfull and smallest thing I could fit in i car and be able to hide it somewhere. I have an '06 Subaru Legacy and if anybody has any tips regarding that car let me know also.

Questions I have bellow might be used to start some sort of Mac FAQ or something.

1.) How do you power your mac mini, what sort of converters you use, etc?

2.) What sort of GPS software do you use on your mac and is it any good?

3.) Where in the car do you keep the mac mini and how much air does this thing need to stay cool?

4.) What are the experiences with WinXP on mac mini? if there is no good GPS software for Mac this might be a decent way to go. Seems that Linux doesn't have anything decent for navigation yet either.

5.) Any on-screen keyboards for a mac? or do I need to use an hardware keyboard?

Thanks for the answers ahead, and also does anyone know of a shop that can install carputers in Seattle area?

Thanks again.

A FAQ is a great idea. That's why we wrote one. It's here.

That's in the FAQ Emporium and you'll find tons of answers to lots of your questions there. Also, did you see the sticky in this forum with links to different Mac resources?

As for the Mac specific questions, a few of them have been answered already. Search the Mac forum for some of the topics like on screen keyboard. Check out the "Show off your projects" forum for Mac installs. Search for Mac or Mini to see the projects that have been completed.
