iMac Help Needed...

I know it is probably the wrong place to be asking, but... My airport card has dissappeared

I don't know why, and i have been through everything i can thing of, but my airport card now shows as NOT being installed.

I have taken it out, tried a different card, checked everything.

Reset firmware etc...

Bluetooth is working which i understand is on the airport card, but stuck now....!

Anyone got any ideas about "FINDING" hardware like you do on a pc...???

By the way, i'm reasonably new to macs, but thought i would try and sort it before asking, but after 4 hours, i'm ready to quit...

This is the message i get on boot up...

Take it in. It's most likely the card died. I've had a few that the wireless quit, but the bluetooth still works. Then sometimes the logic board fries the wireless side and it needs replaced. Which iMac do you have? I can accidentally email you the service manual.

i had my board fry cause of the wireless card. be quick about it.

That's the whole point.... The card works fine....!!!

I have 2 iMacs, and removed the card from the other and swapped them over, and it is still the same, and the card that didn't work works fine in the other machine....

It doesn't FIND the card in the machine and displays that at startup, as if the drivers are corrupt...!

try reinstalling the OS. sounds drastic but it should work.

I backed everything up, and did exactly that, and i didn't lose a thing as i ran it as a repair over the top...

Glad, but very confused as to what caused it...
