This is very interesting....

Like this idea, will look to implementing it also....

Could we say..... well in my case

Attach aTV to MAIN LCD (like a 15-17" er in the trunk lid)

and maybe "Copy" that video out put to other smaller monitors???

Either from the monitor with some kind of video out, or a stand alone video amplifier of the sort?

How about this.... hmmm....

HDMI to DVI

Then DVI to Video

?? What u think?

What would that be for? I do have all the LCDs so I can watch them when I am in the car. True, the trunk lid is in a front of me when I am driving my Tatra, but it is still kind of better to drive when you can actually see the road ;-)

This will not work. This adapter will only work with DVI-I outputs, where the analog signal is physically present. The first adapter you refer to (HDMI->DVI) gives you digital-only DVI-D.

Appreciate it.

As far as the LCD in the trunk, more so for car shows.

I'm not being a jerk. People keep suggesting the same thing over and over and over. Look back at how many times it was suggested. The thread isn't about whether or not to use the apple tv or mini.

this thread is about how to make the apple tv product workable in the car environment. it doesn't matter how "long" you were a member here...it is sharing KNOWLEDGE of how to get the apple TV product for the car. the hack is the gain, the $$ is not the issue.

place nice or get out of the sandbox. thanks!

Would this work?

I'm not sure if this would work also, given that many of the vga capable lcds are 800x480 native, but a number of them are able to "downconvert" 720p and even higher resolutions to fit the screen. So, this transcoder may be good to use with the Apple TV and is reasonably priced...

If you have a mac mini, I think you can just run the AppleTV software on it.
