PC Navigator 6 - Europe - coming next week - Page 5

After using PC Navigator 6 for a bit I have found some niggling points with it:

- The voice is REALLY annoying

(UK female, sounds like a slight Aussie accent)
- Guidance voice speaks too much (tells me at 800yds, 500yds, 200yds, at the corner! - seems overkill)
- Has routed me down some strange places, it even TOLD me to go straight when on the map it showed my destination was down the next right turn!
- Tracks the vehicle on the map about 2 lanes left of where I actually am.. (works fine using Navigon with same GPS)
- Doesn't appear to support pre route planning (ie. Point A to Point B so I can see how far it is, what route it will take etc..)

on the plus side;

+ Nice easy to see buttons when using touchscreen
+ Built in OSK
+ Maps seems pretty accurate so far

I shall be trying Navigon NavigatoR 2.0 (Europe, Speech, TMC) this week... will let you know the results

Now if it does UK TMC & CDR can intergrate in to FD ......

Helpful and informative - never mind I've got NavigatoR unlocked and its fantastic - watch out on the live on my previous post on DC where I'll be doing a review plus I'm taking questions... eg things you want me to looks at.

Oh - and for our US chums there is US version called http://www.oncoursenavigator.com/ so it may just be a D3 killer

by the way.. it uses teleAtlas maps.. they are very good.. my ex-girlfriend was working (she is a geographer) for making those maps for greece.. and i know the maps are good..

ok i tried pc navigator 6, and what can i say.. it is very promising.. if we can embed this into RR and have the music volume lowered, i think it will be a D3 replacement..

As for Navigon Navigator 2.. sad it only has Athens not entire Greece supported!!!

I can’t believe that they can charge for what is essentially an "FIX". I’ve only just (3 weeks ago) purchased ver 6 and having to pay for ver 7 is an outrage. Talk about looking after your customers…

I can't believe that either. All their stock, advertising material, etc for v6 would also become immediately useless. I would imagine a product would have a lifetime of at least a year.

What is the "main skin file"? skin_browser?

I'll go with this nav system when the SDK is available.

One question/request to pass on to Directions maybe (wilgartw?)
- Could it include GPS Gate (http://www.franson.com/gpsgate/) functionality so that additional sw could be added without buying a GPSGate licens?

I want to use GPS data to my GooPs tracker, and that added feature would save me 30USD.

I have now tried XPort out.

It is a very easy application to run and it does the job. One thing though...

It connects to internet by dialing up internet on my BT phone! Why? Spyware?

I've sent a question to curioustech (telling name?) and I think I will wait using it until I got an explanation.

Edit:
I have now got message from Curioustech that when pressing "service" the ports are scanned. No data transfer

The Navigator maps is quite unusable in Central-East Europe (Hungary,Croatia)
they won't update this....

look at Croatia in this """"navigation software"""""
the D3 map is better than this

Greek map also don't have very good coverage...except athens..D3 maps are better too

one more question.. does Pc navigator use standard Teleatlas maps? upgrade is via Teleatlas or you? on your site there is nothing about map upgrading!!

A:standard TA map in OUR format, so you can only upgrade from us
