Red face Setting up DSB-R100 radio w/ mediaengine

Can someone tell me how to install the DSB-R100 so it will work with media engine? I have installed it to the default directory c:\radio but mediaengine does not recognize it. I've tried installing the DSB-R100 in the mediaengine directory but with no success

Please help..
Eric

if the radio works with the included software on your computer it should work with media engine.

That is not entirely true. If you are running WindowsXP the default install uses a dll with a different signature than the one that MediaEngine uses and it works. The trick is to:

1. Go to DLink's support site and download the latest XP drivers.
2. Get the latest version of MediaEngine. A few older versions had a couple of bugs that have been fixed.

The DSB-R100 is installed on my computer and works fine except for the volume adjust but mediaengine still does not sync up with it.

Make sure that radio.dll in your Media Engine directory is registered.

What do you mean by registering? Do I need to find a register key? I know that that the radio.dll is installed but I'm not sure if it is registered.

I just did a clean install of Win2000. The Dlink USB radio works fine but still cannot be controlled with Mediaengine. The only thing Mediaengine will control is the radio volume and that is only if I open the radio before running Mediaengine. Any guesses why the radio still isn't working?

I got mine from DLINK Australia. The DLINK US website does not support this product.

Here they are...

Resolve Problem??

Hi, guys!!! This link explains what u do for use the DLink radio!!

D-Link USB radio DSB-R100 is reported by Phil to be working perfectly - it is necessary to:

download drivers for GemTek FMRadio 21 USB (23 kB) on

uninstall original software

connect radio to another USB port to force Windows to detect it again

then, when Windows recognize the new hardware on the different port, just install usbradio.sys driver

select GemTek FMRadio 21 USB in Radiator options

I hope this help u!!!

How is the reception of this DLink in the car? I see it has an antenna but how will reception be affected since it has to be mounted inside the car? Can it be integrated into the factory antenna?

Yes reception is drastically better with the radio connected to the factory antenna.
