OK, just a quick update for anyone watching this.
I did a recalibrate of the touchscreen to be on the safe side (full 25 pointer).
Also I changed the way the touch panel worked as a mouse, from click on press (options, click on press, click on release, and normal) to normal. I also disabled the left/right click applet.
I then tried media engine again. Buttons now work as expected.
Works as shell, and as application.
Managed a strange thing though.
Had an album running in MP3. managed to get to the media library, and select a DivX movie.
The movie started. but the MP3 Album also restarted, after pausing to view the library.
Also the screens randonly flicked between music and movie, and then when I clicked the home button, all three screens.
Very weird listening to the soundtrack of Debbie does Dallas, with a Marilyn Manson backing track. Especially as it was cycling between classic porn, and track listings. Like watching one of those late night dutch Satellite TV station music video shows.

Select Browse Media, then Build New Playlist. Press Search button. Select any kind of search (artist, title). The OSK appears but you can type only one character. then you can scroll through it but no button work. By pressing Quit button, the program goes back to the Browse Media.

I cannot make the automatic file synchronizer sync OGG files. I have added the OGG extension to the list of supported audio extensions in the 'directories and startup' tab of settings menu. I have also tried making ME sync .ogm and .avi files with no success. In both cases, the extension was on the list of supported file types.
I am running a Win2k Lite install with fully updated versions of ME 2.0, WMP9 and DirectX 9.0b.
512MB RAM
60BG HD (2 NTFS partitions)
900 MHz Pentium M
(Fujitsu Lifebook, P5010D)
A note.
I have been able to make oggmux (*.ogm) files play in ME, by installing the following codecs, and including OGM as a supported video extension.
The OGG Direct Show filters, and a subtitle mixer, available at: http://tobias.everwicked.com/
The proper Video codec (Xvid or Divx)
You cannot change the audio or subtitle tracks however, without mucking about with things outside of ME.

Error, while playing mp3's
Updated the .exe today but am still getting an error every now and again, 2 small windows pop up one saying switch to and retry, somehting about application is already in use? does this mean anything to you,
Also when running the VIs, the screen somtimes freezes while playing, so the vis just sitts there but the music still play's, then after a while it will come back.
Another thing, when a track is finished playing the Vis stops and goes back to the playlist screen, rather then just playing the next track and keeping the vis on screen.
Still impressed with it though, I'm sure the little niggles will be ironed out
Ron

Are you running the latest version of the .exes? If so, I need more details about what you were doing when you noticed this.

I actually noticed this problem over the weekend while I was fixing another bug. We're tyring to tackle some other issues and should have another bugfix release ready very soon.

An error occured in modDB.UpdateDBMain last_sql=INSERT INTO Media(Path,...
here is the scenario:
1. instaling MediaEngine2.0.20setup.exe
2. exec UnRegger.exe
3. update mediaengine.exe and DB_UPDATE.exe
4. start mediaengine.exe (3 times I think)
5. start mediaengine.exe -> now it starts continiously restarting itself, it's hard to kill it (click settings and then taskmanager end process)
6. again start mediaengine.exe - in the settings dialog I have blinking yellow light -> DB offline
please help ... tell me what to do, if steps 2 and 3 are ommited ... the same problem

As I wrote in an e-mail to phat_bastard With the new updated files the problem that ME2 is restarting all the time is gone! Now it just shuts down :S
This is what my debug.log says.
MediaEngine Version 2.0 Build 2.0.19 - Logfile created on 10/30/2003
10/30/2003 7:09:41 AM - db background update initiated
10/30/2003 7:09:42 AM - An error occured in modDB.UpdateDBMain last_sql= section: 8 : Object variable or With block variable not set : Error number 91
I have updated with the new exe files. 2.0.26 and 1.0.7.
I hope you can find the problem because dispite all the updates the problem isn't solved.

I have been working with phat_bastard myself over that period of time. I have found him to be helpful, understanding, and knowledgable. I think that given the circumstances they are dong an outstanding job.
My issue has been resolved totally and I am looking forward to 2.X releases and using the software on my system.
I encourage everyone to be as detailed as possible when providing information about problems they are having, which may include taking notes. We all want the same thing. The developers ware doign great in my book. JMO-Carl

Hi!
First: Great Software!!! I´m happy that you write these kind of Software....
But:
I´ve got a VIA Epia V8000 with Win98SE on it and a 7" Xenarc Touchscreen.
When I´m running a resolution of 800x600 and 16 or 32Bit then the writing of the
lists are scrambled, they are overlaying when I scroll down the list or select another file to play. The same is in the "Browse Media" list.
On 1024x768 there´s everything allright. The same in 800x600 and 256Colors.
I´m using the default skin. WMP9, DX9.0b installed.
And I´ve another Problem:
When I press the shutdown button, ME is trying to shutdown, but in the background a loginmask appears with the username im logged on.
Then ME hangs, and cant shutdown.
Is it a bug or a settingfailure?
Greetz

The developers may want to cast that value to a date/time before entering it into the database, or better yet format it as a string using explicit formatting (as the cast "cDate" would probably be locale specific and may not play happy with Access ... ) ...
dob - If you want a quick fix, you might try changing your settings (I'm guess locale settings, but not completely sure) to remove this character ...
Because the log is strewn with "[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]" it is likely that some version of MDAC (or at least the Access drivers) are present.

Actually it's .27 currently, I neglected to update the sticky.
Also there was some mis-communication between myself and CarComp that caused 2.0.19 to be written to the logfile with the actual program version being 2.0.26 [dont ask].
Also, any problems we've seen with mediaengine not referencing the support .exes seemed to have been resolved by running unregger.exe and then re-launching the app until it gets everything re-registered.
