Screen update problem in ME2

I am having some Graphic and text overlay errors in the play menu and browse menu of the ME2.

The effect is that the "Display selection bar" is not deleted from its previous position when another song is chosen. This ends up with a complete filled screen of selection bars.
Furthermore the text is also not updated, resulting in several different text in the same line if page up/down has be done in the play or browse menu.

Description of my configuration:

Epia M10000 Nehemiah with chip type CLE266, running 933MHz
Memory is 256Mb where 64Mb is configured as video memory.
My operating system Windows ME build 4.90.3000
DirectX version 9 and DirectX Media version 6.05.01.0902
Latest S3 display driver 4.14.01
ME version is the latest update version 2.0.0.27
Running 800x600 16bit colour resolution.
Output is composite video and a Lilleput 5.6? Screen

Input Device:
Ordinary keyboard.

Step to reproduce.
Just open the browse or play menu. It happens every time I am using ME2

Text from any error messages:
No error messages.

Step to solve.
I have tried using DirectX 7 instead and an older S3 display driver. This results in no changes at all.
Tried to change the screen resolution up to 1024x768, no affect either.
This problem disappears when using ME 1.7.7.
I have not seen any thing likely in other programs I am running so it seems to be related to ME2 only.

Lines from debug log.

Does anybody has a solution to this problem?

Best regards
ProCos.

Hi Wachsiman,

No solution yet but I have created a bug report at Mediaengine.org.
They suggested to set the regional setting to English (US).
Unfortunally this was already done, so that did not solve the problem.

I believe that they are working on the problem or at least on an approach how to find out what is causing the problem.

I will let you know as soon as the problem is solved.

Best regards

CarComp has sent me patches that should resolve this. We're working hard to get a bugfix release ready, when it's available there will be a new sticky at the top of the MediaEngine forum. Sorry for the inconvenience.

well I never saw this graphic error on my system.

Where does ME get the album thumbnail?
If I remember well ID3V2 allows to attach an image. It's very cool.
However it would be nice if you could put the thumbnail in every album folder with a default name like "cover.jpg", 120x120 pixel etc....

It only happens on some Win9X / ME bases.

If there's an APIC (attached picture) frame in the ID3 tag (only works on v2.3 and up) the first one it finds will be displayed. If not ...

You can, experiment a little bit every once in a while. You can also put multiple image files in your folders and it will slideshow them. This also works when you're playing a compiled playlist such as favorites and there is cover art in the source directory of the currently playing song.
