Exclamation Cannot start MediaEngine

Hi,
nice to be here in your board.

Im using Win98SE with an EPIA MII1000. 40GB Harddisk, 256 MB RAM
I installed win98SE with all updates, Mediaplayer 9, Winamp 2.91 and DirectX9.
An at last MediaEngine 2.3.0. When i start the prog i become this errormessage in the log:

Could not reference DB_UPDATE.exe : Not Registered : Error number 0
MediaEngine terminated cleanly by user
Could not reference DB_UPDATE.exe : Not Registered : Error number 0
MediaEngine terminated cleanly by user

What can is do ?

Oh, and also i installed MDAC packet from microsoft

Did you use any utility to remove windows components / strip down the OS? If so you need COM+.

no i have installed win98se in standard mode. do i need then com+ components? where do i get this?

COM+ is distributed with 98, so it should only be missing if you stripped it out. Try this - in your Media Engine folder double-click db_update.exe and see if you get an error. If not, see if M/E will launch for you afterwards. Post back with your results.

i have test it. nothing happend. the same error after starting ME again.

Ok, how about trying reset.bat?

Also, did you previously have an older version of MediaEngine installed? It sounds like this is a clean install of 98, but just want to verify.

Just FYI, we unofficially decided some time ago to stop supporting non-32 bit versions of windows, so you and anyone running on Win98 / WinME are living on borrowed time as far as we're concerned.

This may make me come off sounding like an ***, but if you are using the MII10000 why would you run 98 on it? XP runs just fine without any slowness at all and the startup is comparable if not better. And if it is about the money issue I'd hate to be the one to tell you this but you just built a carputer...throwing money at it has just begun
