XM Volume Control

Has anybody been able to set ME to control the Optical In volume on their sound card instead of the Line in, Cd Line in, and Mic in?

My problem is that my sound card the Audigy Zs notebook will auto mute the Optical In when any volume adjustments or changes are done to the Line in or Mic in. (Wich ME uses for XM input) Unless i can stop the auto muting, i cannot use XM with optcial input.
