Idea For External Web Based Travel Program
Sorry for all the bad grammer in advance - been a long day and I'm off to bed ...
I'll make it simple ( cos I am ).. in the UK I know of two web pages you can go straght two... would it not be good if you could access them on the move - espcialy as the two I am thinking of would word great in a touch screen enviroment.
Both are free and do not require any logons although a seprate host page would be advisable and easy to make.. any way I digress.
As both of them are shock wave IE is only required as such.. so if some one could produce a programe where by you can run an external prog and display certain pages and may be even cycle though one or two then we could have an easy travel logon ( and not just for the UK ).
You would need a refresh button to force it to check for new info but also a stop dial button just in case like me you pay expensive dial up charges ( GPRS or not ).
I spose it could be further enhanced later ( may be the vew depends on start up vairables ) to do simple control web browsing for touch screens ?
Any way - though I'd off that one up to you lot
T
PS: Confused hope you don't mind me borrwing your screen dump
Scuse the quality.. its just to give an idea as to what I am saying above

nice, shame your can't zoom in more on the traffic master one.
I did actually contact Trafficmaster to see if they could or would be doing a product that would plug into a PC and provide traffic updates, but they said they have no plans for it. which is a shame, coz I think if you could get one of their devices plugged in and with your GPS it would give some great info.

Yeah that is a pity. It would be quite easy however to make the vauxhall trafficmaster app move with your location using the 'click on map' part - basically the reverse of how I programmed the UK meet web site where you click on the map where you are - that is possible.
The app is finished, be posting again in 5

Alpha Version of Traffic web data app
Hiya,
Been busy this lunch time...
At the moment only connects to the two sites terran suggested, but it adjusts accordingly to make sure they look OK on screen.
The connect/disconnect buttons are to be used with your default internet connection. I couldn't test these as my machine at work is on a lan so anyone with a dial-up connection handy, please test.
Oh almost forget..
Download from Link
Includes full VB source and icons etc - the gif files are need for the app, to use fun the EXE

Update on the traffic master bit
http://www.trafficmaster.co.uk/page.cfm?key=tnav
they have a device and service that does the satNav traffic routing vehicle tracking, but it's quite expensive.

I'd make the two urls flex able for others.. rather than hard coding.. now... if there was a button to bring MC or another app back in to view when finnished...
( Wow your good )

OK
Later I will have a test with my mobli and see if it dials/disconnects, and change the coding of the app so the URLS can be changed etc (including sizes/labels), and also add a few essentials such as disconnet internet on program exit.
I will also have a look at the Traffic net one and see if there is anything else that can be done to it to make it larger/follow vehicle etc.

Some thing to bare in mind is that most people will be using either around 800x600 ish or less so that may look fairly large any way.

Check and the Connect/Disconnect buttons do work connected to a mobile phone for net access expected to have to debug it first!
Though one thing I will be adding is some kind of receive lights (like in the status bar) as net access is slow, and it's nice to know if it's still doing something!
