hey all,
Let's find all the programmers in Mediacar forum to start writting a new program?
I'm a bit of a programmer myself, but has never done any applications that runs in windows, skinnable, has an installer and so on. However, I'm very interested in doing something like that and believe that i have the capabilities. I've been doing web applications for almost 3 years and developping multimedia games and presentations using Lingo (shockwave) as programming language. I have good graphic design skills and I understand programming quite well and don't think it would be hard to start writting a skinable program for windows. If you have some information about writting windows apps, could you please help me get started?
What sort of languages I should consider?
The development environment?
A place for Resources?
Mike
btw , I'm currently teaching Multimedia in a TAFE college

Good luck Mickey. I think that there are enough active projects around here to keep us all busy.
I have to say that it took me while to switch to frodo player and i actually loaded up mediacar the other day and it reminded me how cool it was to have a real menu driven application with real embedding. MediaCar was buggy though and it took forever to load up the mixer (at least it had a mixer though.)
Frodoplayer is my next choice because he is the most active developer here. Although some of the stuff frodo is working on like the integrated webserver is redicoulous but hey... it is his program and he can do what he wants with it. Frodo has done a real lot for this community.

You won't find it so ridiculous when people and developers realize what they
can do with it.

I was waiting for your comments... No offence big guy, it's just my opinion. And I did disclaim it with "yaddy yaddy its your own software yaddy yaddy do what you want with it".
Me personaly have no use for that. what i do have use for is a real menu and software embedding and a mixer although we have all beaten those to a bloody pulp havent we so there is no use discussing it here. In plain english they are not in the scope of your project. That is perfectly fine. It is your project and i think you have done an awesome job as of yet.

Embedding is in the scope, I just have to get it right, and as of right now
I don't have it right.
As for the menu, I plan to beef it up after 1.09 to be much nicer, however
making it the center of the app is not in my plan.
We all know the story on the mixer
Frodo

Antimatter i'm also in the team that votes for a real menu... Maybe with the webserver commands and all we can build a companion app that achieves that... we'll see when fp1.09 comes out...
I really dont see a menu making development that harder, and it would allow fp to please more people... oh well, its free there is really no use insisting as you mentioned

You could very well make a menu with the web commands and other
features of the webserver.
I'll release examples.
