Video Format

Are you able to add video format with this FE. I want to add FLV files and other files but i can't seem to find where to put it.

if you can play em in media player you can use this front end.

if you're having problems getting the files to show in your browser try adding .mp3 to the end. it was a work around in the previous release.

Yep. As long as you can play it in media play, just change the files extension. Instead of using mp3, I change them to avi or wmv. Makes it more easy for me to tell that it's a video file.

that makes sense too, now that it's simply 'media' instead of 'audio' and 'video' for the interface

If you cant do it from the settings, just go into the config.ini file and change the skin manually. The program should read mp4 files. I will consider additional file extensions possibly for the next release. Thanks.

nah its not reading my mp4 files. I have alot of mp4 files like over 3000 of them and nothing shows. How hard would it be to just add the file extension to the .exe. having file support extension would be a plus.

perhaps this?
http://www.bluechillies.com/details/28681.html

it does a massive rename of files, so you could replace .mp4 with .mp3 and you'd be set. as long as they'll play in media player then you'll be golden

Hi TN6478, I know this is not the answer you are looking for. It was stated earlier though to try different extensions.
First does the file play back in Windows media player... NOT media player classic.
Next some extensions appended to the end of some files will not work..
For example When i was playing with this method in the previous release..
I tried getting MI to see asf files in the audio module..well 2 extensions would work..
but i had to make sure the asf file was seekable.. I could only use .mp3 and .wav to make windows media player play it back
i tried .wma nope did not work with the .asf.

Also as of right now windows medial player does not have support to play back .flv on its own. Media player classic and ffdshow have the ability..

I had to recode all my .flvs to avi and add .asf to have all my videos in the audio module and extract the mp3 audio and remux it to the asf.

Also when i dont know if you tried or not but when you append a extension to a file for example myfile.flv.wmv you should try to open it in Windows media player first.. It should give a error message like are you sure you want to play this incorrect extension or format then there is a box to say dont ask me no more.. So try different extensions. .MP3 and .wmv will not work for all files. I have even used .wav on some of mine..
I have downloaded new version yet.. Too busy fixing other peoples pcs.
Cant wait though..
And if you did all i said then i do appologize for wasting your time by reading it.

have a nice day

there are some free flv converters out there that also convert in batch.

if i change my extension from .flv to .avi it all works. just the fact is that I have over 6000 music videos. 3000 in mp4 use to be on my ipod and 3000 flv files. I dont trust programs to do it because there is so many. I know changing it would work but it would be better if I am able to just able to add these extension into the FE itself. So Red what do you say, you going to add it

This would not be an extremely difficult task, but it would be somewhat time consuming. I will consider it after we get all of the initial bugs taken care of.

i've personally tried this program since you last asked this question, i used to get rid of annoying hacker-group names from some rom sites' files. it works great AND very very quickly, you can do a whole batch so your 6000 files would take a mere few seconds to do.

give it a shot!
