I see, sorry I thought you were speaking of the American Chevrolet Cavalier engines, heh heh... I kind of thought it sounded strange to fit one in a european chasis, heh heh...

Doesn't it look nice. Spent hours making it, but WTF happen to it later on.

Video

It's hard to see, but little black thing sticking up from bottom middle of the screen is remote IR sensor. Don't ever need to touch the buttons on the LCD.

GPS: Iguidance 2.1.3

Navigation Window Close

Color is a little off since I am using 2003 Navigation window. 2006 doesn't have a pull down window.

Power button: Glows yellow/orange around the base when PC is on.

Unfortunately, my camera sux at taking dark pictures. Best I can do.

Keyboard & Gamepad

GPS Receiver

If you were wondering, Mario 64 is running on the screen.

Computer hidden behind passenger seat

Computer open

Now, result of having limited space and wires running everywhere.
DVD drive was suppose to go in little compartment above, but IDE cables would not reach.

Still have to add reverse camera and USB wireless adapter. Hope, you enjoy. Took me months of researching which allowed me to do it in 3 days.

Holy Crap!!!! I have to say that this is one of the cleanest and most impressive installs I have yet to see!!! Not to mention that I love the fairlady. I had a classic 78 2+2 back in the day, that I unfortunately totalled. The case is sweet as hell!!! Did you fabricate it or did you buy it somewhere?

I made the case. It's pretty easy. Metal mesh bent into 16X9 inch frame, painted black, and enclosed top & bottom by 1/4 inch plexi glass. Held together by nuts & bolts. The MB (bottom) and PS (side) sits on top of plastic washers.

Here's pic of mesh (comes in size 4.5 feet) I got from Lowe's: Front, Back, and Shaping

I spent all day doing this and spent several months gathering up the nerve and motivation to do it. I took my stock stereo panel console piece and fabricated it to mold around my touch screen and also acomodate it being tilted back slightly.

Some really top installs. One thing ive noticed is that most of you seem to have kept a head unit of sorts as well as your carputer. Any reason for this?

I would have built an fm radio module into the program, but no computer radios get reception worth a damn, so I kept my head unit.

It doesn't get any more ghetto than this!

First installation to get familiar with the whole CarPc stuff, i'll refine it soon after the holidays. And MI is running flawlessly!

Heres some pics of my install and car.

Car:
1992 Mazda RX7 Series 6
LOTS AND LOTS of engine work.

The Carputer - On the cheap I might add:

Second hand IBM Thinkcentre I got free from work
2.6Ghz, 1G Ram, 100Gig HDD, onboard sound and graphics
Intelligent Automotive / Car DC-DC ATX PC Power Su
Case cut down to fit car
MI front end (old version)
Goldfinger GPS software (New Zealand only)
7" LCD Touch screen in old headunit location
Headunit relocated to middle vent location
USB Numeric keypad with keystroke converter and script to enable "." button to be a one touch cycle between MI and GPS.

When the enclosure is made for the Sub it will fit in nice and level with the top of the computer and will cover all the amps etc. Should look nice!!!

What you think?
