New Features Progress Update

Progress Update: I have the Web Browser complete, all I have to do is skin it.
I currently have the basic coded part of the Calendar/Contacts/Email module complete. All I have to do is move things around and make the interface finger friendly. This module downloads all of your Microsoft Outlook appointments, your addressbook and any emails in your Inbox. If you are on a corporate network, then it will prompt the user for their login information when the user initiates the download process. With Outlook 2003 it also has the security prompt which the user must select; allow access for 1 minute. It then copies all of the information into a database that is stored in the local program directory. It uses a basic Microsoft Access database so the information could be used elsewhere if needed. The module will feature a hotkey lookup for Contacts and Email. The Calendar will have a full month view with indicators on days that have events (similar to the palm pilot calendar in month view), and also a view to select events from a list. Im still working out the way the information is best shown on the screen, this will take me a week or so more to complete. Keep checking back for updates.

Outlook Calendar Contacts and Email Module Progress

Just about have this module complete. This is what I have so far.
In the Calendar view, the user sees a standard calendar and is able to browse through the months and dates. The days that have an appointment will show with a grey block, if the user clicks on the day with the blocks it opens the appointment

In the Contacts view, the user sees a list of their contacts and is able to scroll up and down and select them.
* The user can also click on the search box and the on screen keyboard will appear and allow the user to do a partial letter search sorting the list either last name first or first name first.

In the Email view, the user has a small list of emails showing the subject, the user can select the item and it will show the email. The From, To, CC, subject and body of the email shows.

When the user clicks on the Download buttons on each section, it prompts outlook for access in Outlook 2003 because of the security features. Outlook XP and below dont do this. Then it places the data into a database which allows the user to be mobile. The data is only updated when it downloads.

The new version is currently being tested, and will be out by the end of August. I am also changing the display resolution of the program to 800 x 600 and altering the skin. Keep checking back before then, I may have an early release. Thanks

Reddeath, I've been fiddling around trying to make a new skin, will it work on the new version when that is released?

Better hold off on skin making until the new version, Some of the controls have moved slightly and the whole thing will be in 800x600, but will still have the same large buttons, controls, and lists. In fact you wont even notice the difference in the size as I have increased all of the controls to be the same aspect as before.
The new version has these additional features per requests:
*Keyboard Control - Number pad controls audio/video functions and menus
*Equalizer, Bass/Treble/Master/Wave/Cd Volume control
*Able to change drives from C:\ to D:\ to E:\ etc.
*Shuffled play for both playlists and directory playing
*An Attenuate/Low Volume function, not mute but turns audio down according to what the user sets the value in the ini file.
*Single Main Menu to access Media and Exit submenus.

with the attenuate i suggested are you gonna be able to implement a gradual rise in volume when it comes back, say winding up over a few seconds?

When playing mp3s would it be possible to have the album artwork where the visualisation is? Maybe cycling between vis and album art, kinda like it does now between small vis, medium vis and full screen vis. If that makes sence?!?

that would be quite cool.
cos i don't need the vis but being able to glance down and see the cover can tell you instantly which album you're listening to without having to read anything.
thats for the times you get in the car and can't remember what you had running before

Here is a little teaser of some of the modules that I have complete for the next version and a look at the new default skin. I still have the web browser, playlist and Im also refining the slideshow module. I expect to have it ready for download next week if everything goes well.

Skin color???

The blue theme looks great!! SInce you have the templates for this theme already would it be possible to do a version with the buttons amber and maybe green. I need them amber to match the other lights in my car. I have gotten 3/4 of the way thru creating a skin for the first version nut it seems stupid to finish it if everything is going to move!!!.

Thanks
