I completely agree with you on your "hard drive" sentiments. I think the best way to do that is to beef up tag support. Sure it's a little more work on users to tag their stuff, but theyre so much easier to manage when theyre tagged. Unfortunately the difficulty for you is the lack of solid tag standards... I mean they have what? 2 different versions, with 2 or 3 sub versions each? I guess if you can just support the meat and potatoes (ie name, album, genre etc) of each version, that would put you light years ahead in the "hard drive abstraction" realm.
Keep up the good work man, MMC is the ****!

I think ID3 tag v2 is the standard choice for most people.
I love being able to choose to browse by artist, album or genre but I think an even better feature would be to make it like an ipod menu.
eg) Select Genre and then you're presented with Artists that fall within that genre, then Album and then finally Songs.
Obviously have an "All Artists" and "All Albums" option at the top of each list as well.
Other than that I love the new version.

Also add radio support. SILAB radio works great. The way you have it set for music right now is great. But no matter what, when you have a big database for music its kind of hard to make it not look like a computer. But I like the way it is now. Choosing your music folder and then whenever a new file is added to it, it will autoupdate. But its better to have a script or program inside this program where when you stick a flash drive in and you can be able to move or copy mp3 from that drive and transfer it to the default music folder that is set. Having a playlist would also be a great addition. Being able to create one on the fly. If you are able to add multimonitor support function that would be great also.

I think I am doing ID3v2, but there must be a bug in the code I need to work on...
I like the iPod menu... I will try that out and see how it works out for us.

We were building this for an in house hardware device we are going to be releasing, it has a hardware volume tied into MMC. MMC has volume controls that can be added thru the skin, so I will just need to add the volume buttons for you guys.

I am working on that now. You insert any CD or Flash/USB drive and it will import the music for you. I am also working on ripping CD with track info from freedb. Multi monitor support already works, I just need to make it better and more user friendly. I will be working hard on all of this. Keep the feedback coming guys, you are very helpful and I appreciate it.
I will be adding support for all kinds of Radio devices, but right now its at the bottom of my list, since GPS is the next big thing for me to tackle.

How long before XM makes it into MMC? Thats about the only thing keeping me from running it on the car-mada-puter. No problems noted that haven't already been posted. (video support, audio tags etc.) One thing I'd like to have the ablity to do is put motherboard monitor in where the analog clock is so I can keep an eye on the temps.
I assume there will be a settings screen coming. I picked the wrong video folder and don't see a way to change it.

go to the mobile media center.config file and open it up, inside you will see the path for videos, just delete the path and leave only the quotation marks, save the config file and open MMC it will ask you for the path again.
likewise if you need to update your database, (add songs) just delete the media.xml file that is in the root MMC folder and it will rebuild, you can also add a button to do this in the skin

XM is the next big one on my list. I hope it will be in the next release within the next couple days. Yes, there will be a setting screen, for the final build/release.
