[frontend] Mmc Rc2 New Release 05.23.2007
Well guys,
Here is the latest release of MMC. I redid half the code. A lot of new engine components that will make MMC more flexible and powerful. If you see stuff missing from this version that was in the last version, do not worry I will be adding everything back and more. This will at least let you get to check out the new base and see where things are going. I have worked on this version very hard, so please give me feedback. I know there are bugs and UI things that are off, I will be releasing new builds every night or every other night from this point forward. Now that the core is done, I can focus on enhancements and bug fixes.

Thank you. Like I said, I will be cleaning up more UI stuff and working on more features. I will post another build this evening with some fixes and more stuff added. I have some cool ideas for the DVD screen I want to try out.

Hey Bit! It's looking good. I did notice a few things though.
MP3 Tag support is very spotty
I cant browse by filesystem, so essentially a bunch of my music is lost in MMC
I couldnt find the exit button (probably didnt look hard enuff)
Is there an OSK?
If I play a video then go back to music, both will play at the same time.
Love the new interface

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah there are a lot of bugs on this release. There is an OSK, just need to hook it up in the UI. I also need to work on the audio/video tagging code. Is all of your files MP3s? If so, which ID3 tag version? I need feedback so I can make the tagging code work better. I will be working hard on releasing new builds every night to every other night, so we can get this wrapped up.

Thanks Bit. I'm using all MP3s. I've tried tagging at various versions with the same results. If you can formally support a specific version, I'm sure none of us would mind converting

Thanks, I will. BTW, I will be adding in all the stuff missing from the old version, this includes music visuals, OSK, CD ripping, Media import from detachable devices, etc. Some good amount of work is ahead of me, but it is going to be a great front end when completed. With everyones help, I know this can be the best.

Think it was Internet Explorer. Downloaded it with Firefox and it seems to be working. Thanks, looking forward to trying this one out!
[edit] Downloaded it and it worked great. The coupla tokens Id like to mention:
Couldnt find an exit button. Is there a fullscreen viz? Is it possible to navigate the music via folder instead or artist or genre? Otherwise, an excellent front end! Keep up the great work!

please add support for all video files and also being able to pop a cd in and it will play automaticly. also and option to click on play cd would be great also.
Video files to add or a way for us to add it would be a great addition. also what about GPS. what are you planning to use. i love the old version but it always lock up on me back then when trying to load all my mp3.

Did this version lock up? I will work on the items you requested. GPS... we are looking into various options right now, any recommendation from users?
Here is the issue with GPS. I do not want it looking like Windows at all. This software is supposed to be for touch screens and take care of all your automotive needs, it should not look like Windows or use windows controls! That is the issue I have with some GPS integations right now that I have seen.
ALT+F4 for now will close it quickly. I will add an exit button.
Automatic playback for audio CD's and a CD list will be added soon.
The other issue with hard drive browsing... I am trying to get away from the idea of browsing off the hard drive. I want to get the idea of there being a hard drive away from the user. Once again, I want this to be easy and act like a consumer device. I am working to work on whatever it takes to get this right. If you or anyone has suggestions on making it easy to import your music libraries, I am all ears and I will put forth the effort.
