Talking Mobile Media Center status update and new release soon.

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to let you know what the status was on Mobile Media Center (MMC). I have been working on it a lot lately. I will be putting out a release this weekend. I have worked on the issues you have all been facing with the errors on starting it up and I hope to have fixed the issue. I also implemented a completely new user interface engine. It is wicked fast compared to our old UI. It will not require Direct3D or OpenGL either. So this should work out nicely for some of you running embedded style chipsets, etc. The UI engine does support 3D hardware acceleration, but I want to test how the current version will do with no 3D support.

One of the things I was always told about MMC is the over all speed and response of the software was very fast, in fact faster then most if not all the frontends on here. We have fallen very behind now compare to other front ends based on feature set and UI. Well I am fixing the UI now. That just leaves features. We have a great system built for speed from the ground up and I will now start working very hard to improve the performance even more and start adding the features that have been requested.

I want to work on a piece meal roll out though. The version I release this weekend will have a lot of features turned off that were unstable. I will work on each module until the users feel that it is complete and ready to move on to the next module. I will keep doing this until we have all the modules and pieces in place and then I will release 1.0. Which will be free to mp3car.com users as promised.

So like I said. I will release a new test version this weekend (Sept 22nd) with the new UI and improved performance in the sound engine as well. I can tell you from the test we have been performing here... the UI is instant compared to before.

Take care

update: Actually, the above is wrong, there's more to this... The list is only showing Artist & Album when it's in browse mode, Artist/Album/Genre mode only show "unknown". To look at the symptoms again, it looks like you're not reading the ID3 tags at all.

update-update: Oh... it's not ID3 tags that you're missing, it's the content info from WMAs! Yeah, I feel for ya', walking the content chain in a WMA isn't fun. Do you have plans for adding this or ???

Yes I am working on the WMA stuff now. I am hoping to have it in the weekend release.

Can you try the latest version?

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I am back on the project full time and will be releasing updates weekly and daily when it is feasable.

Thanks!
