[FRONTEND] NEW RELEASE Mobile Media Center RC1

Here is the latest update.

http://www.hybrid-mobile.com/dm/down...enterSetup.zip

Please see dependencies thread for what is needed to run MMC.

This one has the complete Music screen. Video Screen and DVD. I have my own DVD codec. You do not need to have any other codecs installed. MMC does not piggy back on top of Windows Media Player. It has its own media layer that utilizes the platform its installed on. New and very fast UI and media handling code. Should be blazing fast compared to old builds.

Please download and test. You will not be sorry. This has a lot of potential. I already have test builds running on Mac and Linux. I plan on releasing those once I get the underlying layers completed. It has the same skinning/presentation system across all platforms. So what you see can be totally modified and it looks and runs the same on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. The same core has already been installed in three cars for MTV/Pimp My Ride in the past 2 months. There will be a Lincoln Navigator at the SEMA 2006 show in the MTV/GAS Booth with MMC running. We did a custom skin for the Navigator.

Please help me test.

Thanks

Talking What the #$@%?!

Did I **** some people off on here or what? If I am wasting my time here, please let me know. I want to wrap up a 1.0 version of MMC and release it to the mp3car.com crowd which was always my plan. If the other front ends are meeting everyones needs and there is no need to help me test or give feedback, just let me know and then I can tell the admins to close down this thread and I can move on to just working on it for my self and our clients. I wanted to give back to all of you that helped us get to where we are... I had some down time and a lot of life that I had to play catch up on...

Just please let me know. Every post I make gets no response. So if know one does not give two ***** about it, just tell me. I am a big boy and I will move on to devoting my time elsewhere.

Thanks

This looks great. I think that rr has a very large market share right now, however it is complicated to setup and can be confusing to configure for some people. A front end that is easy to setup and works great with limited configuration would really help out a ton of people in the community. You have a great thing here and a lot of people will appreciate it.

I installed it, and got the .net upgrade warning. I upgraded my .net.
After that, continued the install. Clicked the Double CD icon and I got my music. Although it was all juggled up. Names of the music were wrong. It started my list , not with the Bands folder as I have my MP3's setup. I have the folders (ACDC, Pantera, Korn) then under that the Albums, and then the MP3's. The Double CD Icon just went to the MP3's and organized them however they were titled. Doing this slowed and locked up the program. When it did start playing the music, I couldnt do anything. I couldnt go back to home, close the program or anything. I could, however, press skip or previous. That took about 2 min to do.
So, thats where I am. I used to use MMC a while back, so I look forward to what you may have.

[edit]
I let the progam run for a bit, just not touching it, about 5 min, then I was able to press the 'list' button. I pressed it about 5 times before I got to the 'browse' function. This enabled me to navigate my folders as Im used to.
The viz worked well and was a new 'ball' type. I kinda liked it. SO, after about 7 min of waiting, I got the program to work as well as it should. It responded quickly. The search function did not respond in the 'browse' part of the list.
Upon closing the program and opening it back up, I had to repress the list button to get to the nav screen I use, but the program responded quicker.
And no settings. I cant change any settings. I dont know if thats just because its a beta version or not.

So, there you go. Everything I did and saw, good and bad. I like where its going, what more can I do for ya?

looks like a good start. include a simple less "show" skin. Also nice to have music info displayed somewhere on the home screen.

-Nice that you have mini icon on top left that will allow to switch b/t task w/o going back to home screen
-Simple, no clutter, stright to the point front end...I'm sure this will be great

Talking

Thank you guys! Finally some feedback!

I will get a new update out. I do need a simple config/control panel page that is touch screen friendly and I will work on that. I will also get some screen shots up. A new skin is being done that is more user friendly with labels. So people will actually know what there pressing.

If any of you see things that need fixed or would like to see in the next updat, please let me know.

Did any of you try out video and DVD?

Will get an update out in the next day or two.

Thanks again!

Video worked great on some downloaded stuff! I really cant complain this time through!
Though I dont like having to press the 'list' button 3 or 4 times to get to the browse part of the music. Meaning, I dont mind pressing it the first time, but when I start the computer up, Id like that to be the way it is. Also, I dont have any settings. IE, setting it as shell or something. Is that a possiblity? Whats the eta on a full version?!?!? I really like this so far!

I am working on system state being saved between loads right now actually. The next version will save the last song, list mode, etc that you were on...

I am also working on a control panel config page that is touch screen friendly. I am spending a lot of time to make it easy to configure. I would expect the settings saved on the next release and then the config page on the release after.

I have to say, I love the damn Visulizations! They are great! I actually used this FE the entire drive home. Hardly any problems. Only problems I did have were starting it, but that was my fault. The suffle didnt work. I put that on and instead of shuffling the album or folder, it sent me back to the 'browse' option in the music folder. But Im sure thats another feature in the works. Keep it up!

hey

I downloaded the first two version of this and liked them - although I never commented

I thought i would say a few things, I'm not sure if its already been addressed or what but I'll say it anyway

1. You should make an option in music, for the list to be on Artist, Genre, ect. and STAY on that option, even after exiting the program.

2. Can you fix the amount of time it takes to load from the Artist screen, to the songs of the Artist.

that is the main things

I also found a bug that occurs when you click the full screen button in Videos, when no video is playing, it goes as follows: -

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I'm not sure if this info is usefull or what, but keep up the good work - I'm hoping to be able to use the full version of this by the time i get a system for my car up and running.
