September 16th - Intel improves miniITX line; D945GCLF2, DG45FC - Comparison Chart
Intel introduces new products for mobile computing; D945GCLF2 , DG45FC
Intel’s Little Valley boards have come a long way. Initially started as a cheap fan cooled 1.3 GHz Celeron, it was then replaced by fanless version with an addition of 2 SATA ports; shortly there after, Intel reverts back to a fanned version. Each of these boards model low power consumption and a cheap price to go with it.
Recently Intel released the Atom processor which promptly introduced the successor to the Little Valley series, the D945GCLF (Code named “Little Falls”); a 1.6 GHz ultra low power consuming board, driven by a chip the size of a dime. Increased performance, efficiency and RAM capacity makes this board more desirable.
If you thought that was impressive you should check out the specs on the latest releases of Intel’s miniITX line. The D945GCLF2 (a.k.a. Little Falls 2) has some notable improvements over the first generation. For starters, it is a dual core Atom processor. Added functionality includes: an S-video output and pin-outs for six channel audio. If that isn’t enough for you, The DG45FC (or should I say “Flying Creek”) should give you that extra boost of power you are looking for. This little guy takes Core 2 Duo/Quad processors (socket 775) and provides up to 1333MHz FSB! 6 external USB ports plus support for 4 more, HDMI output, an e-SATA port, and onboard 7.1 Audio. Check out the specifications . These boards should tear through just about any CarPC application like a hot knife through butter.
Intel's team expresses great excitement with the release/production of the Atom processor; they contend that such innovation will revolutionize the future of mobile computing. This leads all of us to ask the question What will they come up with next?

I've been watching several threads on the "Little Falls 2" board. I have an AOpen board now that's giving me all kinds of USB problems so, and upgrade is imperative.
I'm happy to try out the first one you folks get in stock.

Hmm, i wonder if these new boards can do S3 sleep? The D201GLY/2/2A series could only do S4 hibernate. Huge upgrade if they can (for applications other than CarPC's especially).

After speaking with Shaun this weekend about this, I'm now leaning towards the Flying Creek as well. Hard to say no to 10 USB ports!
Here's a question for the mp3Car guys. Are you planning to or, would you consider, selling a MB/processor/fan package with the Flying Creek, rather than just the board itself?

since I have a micro atx case, im going with the micro-atx version. http://www.intel.com/products/deskto...D-overview.htm Since I already have a core 2 duo 1.86GHZ 1066MHZ FSB, 4 MB L2 E6320 processor In my current intel board.The biggest reason for me to switch to this board is. good on-board audio, souldnt need to use my current usb SB soundcard which suck right now( driver issues, slow boot, ect) Then the dvi- and hdmi outputs for video. I can get this board for $110.00

This is where I get confused as crap. The D945GCLF (We'll call it Board "A") and D945GCLF2 (We'll call it board "B")??
According to the NewEgg link you provided above,
that board is the D945GCFL - "A".
But the specs say it's a "Dual-Core processor - B.
It has a maximum memory capacity of 4 GB - B
But, only has 6 USB ports - A
And, I don't mean this only applies to this particular link...I'm finding this with most places that carry these boards. Not exactly giving me that heartwarming feeling that I'm going to get what I want. Can't seem to find any place on the web that, for sure, no doubt, we're talking about Board "B".
That's why I was excited when I saw that mp3car was talking about carrying it. I can be sure of what I'm getting and, if I don't, I can drive up there and bang on their door!! (they're local to me)

Ahh...getting much closer. Just need a package with the DG45FC, a CPU, and fan...and I'll click the "Buy it Now" button...oh wait, that's probably trademarked.
