Classifieds...old as dirt?

I dont get it...why are year old posts in the Classifieds sections showing up as "new"?

http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/vbcl...?do=ad&id=2012
is showing up as a new post since 7/1/09

but there is nothing in it suggesting the OP has been on the site since last year...

Its hard to tell when an ad was posted, and if its still for sale...I mean Ive seen things lately from more than a year ago will recent posts to it.

Am I missing something here or is the Classifieds section just completely effed?

Im trying to find things to buy, but I contact people and get no responses...do a little digging and realize the item(s) and person are long gone. It would help to know when something was posted.

honestly, i liked the old original sub-forum style classifieds. new stuff was always at top and bolded when unread...

did you set your classified to renew itself? I've seen mine do that before and that was the problem.

I have nothing for sale.

Im talking about trying to buy something.

Here, try it out: look for a complete system to buy, or even just a screen to buy, find one thats been posted recently...its nigh impossible to sort or figure it out.

whoops sorry about that i understand now. I can almost guarantee that most people self-renew there listings and just dont close them when the sale is complete. Maybe that option should be removed/limited in some manner.

Perfect example.

Goto the classifieds...http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/classifieds/

notice this ad:"FS FS: Complete Dual core system, NEED TO SELL!!!!!"

http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/clas...need-sell.html

The user hasnt posted since Oct of 2008...

How can we keep this kind of crap from occuring? I dont want to think I can contact this guy (i tried July 1st!!!, and now its renewed again today!?) and purchase this when its definitely NOT available.

Id like to point out that the classifieds are still truly effed up.

All i can seem to do is look at the number of views (some number over 1000) and know that the thing cant still be for sale.

Still, there is sometimes NO way to comment, report, close a classified ad even after the seller has long abandoned mp3car.com

Still completely effed, check the classifieds right now...notice how the top spots ("new" posts) have over 1000 views. Obviously, these things are not for sale any longer.

but without an expiration...
without a first posting date...
these ads will forever haunt the forums.

example:
FS TONS of CarPC equipment and Car audio equipment up for sale NEED SOLD ASAP!!!

I dont even know why I continue to come back here...sure the people and info is great...but if I cant get a carputer together...whats the point.

id love to use the classifieds here to get the best deals from people who know their shizzle, but ffs its beyond broken and a complete and utter disgrace to how beautifully this forum is/was run.
