"New Posts" button drives me crazy!
is it just me or does the "New Posts" link not work as the name intends? It never shows me all of the new posts since my last visit to the forum. Sometimes it will tell me there are no new threads to view when on the main forum page i can see 10 new threads i've never seen. Other times it gives me 1 page or so... but when i click "Posts from the last day" there are 3 pages of threads i havent seen. I also see a problem with moderation that i bet is a result of that link. I'll see unmoderated posts from 12+ hours ago but all of the more recent posts have been moderated. Is there anything that can be done about this?

Works fine for me unless I look around the site without viewing the new posts first. If I log in and stay for a while, it'll mark posts as read for some reason. Then when I click New Posts, it'll show 1 or 2 threads and that's it. It actually happened when this thread popped up, it was the only new thread that showed, I kind of laughed to myself because I knew what it was going to be about.

Well that's how it is supposed to work.
New posts are posts that are new since your last visit, not new posts you have not read.
So if you have visted the forum and looked around, that's classified as a visit.

Yea but you didn't actually "read" any of the posts...
I think it has something to do with the "latest posts" section-it seems like after x minutes everything visible in the list gets marked as read.
Edit:
Well there should be an option for only posts you have not read...not posts "since you last visited"

So low level, I wouldn't bother.
Every other vButtletin forum is like this, if you change it you will confuse anyone who uses other forums.

I don't think so, every other forum I use (vBulletin and PHPBB) all keep the posts unread until you actually read them. I like it better that way. Like if I open up my computer and refresh a post I'm following, then make a post, then try to read new there might only be 3 new posts there and I miss all the other stuff I haven't read yet. I'm forced to read new posts before I do anything else on the forum.
EDIT - I should mention, they may not keep the posts unread but they at least will show in the list of new posts as either read/unread so I can see them. They're just the NEWEST posts on the forum. With this forum it only shows you the posts since your last visit, it should just list all newest posts whether you read them or not.
Also another problem......if you make a post and then search for posts started by you, it won't come up. Either the board has to spider it or someone else has to post or the 8 planets have to come into alignment, I'm not really sure what it takes, but it won't show until about an hour later.

The posts will stay unread until your read them.
You can tell because they are still in bold, whereas the ones you have read are not (in new posts list)
How far back the new posts will go, once you have been on the forum for a while, is done on a timer I think.

Surely you mean threads not posts?
Actually there is one forum that does something different with the new posts list and that is fluxmedia, there once you read a thread or post in a thread it doesn't show up in the new posts list, now THAT really annoys me.
