Cookout Items - Summer Months
During the summer months we will probably be having cookouts at each meet as well (depending on location, else we'll hit a joint like Chili's or Ruby's), so we'll list the items to be brought, along with the individuals bringing them, here:
Cookout Items: W3bMa5t3r - Charcoal, Lighter fluid, Lighter, Tinder, Grill
Needed: Burgers, Burger Buns, Hot Dogs, Dog Buns, Drinks, Ice, Fine China (plastic-ware), Plates, Napkins, Aluminum Foil, Garbage Bags, Chips, Dips, Sweets?
Let me know what you're bringing so we don't come up short.

Has anyone been out to Turkey Run Park on George Washington Parkway? How's the parking, picnic/cookout areas, traffic/visitors... etc.
If it's cool and we go for it, I can grab a portable grill if need be...
I'll try to make it out there this weekend sometime before heading into work so I can check it out myself... but let me know what you all know 'bout it.

I'm gonna try to run by Turkey Run Park tomorrow before I head into work so I can get a feel for the location, traffic, visitors, etc. If it's cool I might buy a small grill to take for the upcoming meets. More cook'n out
Also, I hope to be dragging along a new guy to the meet with us - Lowell - whom I'm slowly but surely pulling into the obession which is CarPCs lol... his wife might be tagg'n along as well.
Who all is planning on making the next meet? Sat, 5/19/2007 @ 2PM
Cheers, The W3bMa5t3r

Ok, I drove through Turkey Run Park today. Looks like Area C-1 is where the picnic tables are, and there seems to be plenty of parking, with few visitors. It's just off I-495, hardly any traffic, closer to the interstate than what Great Falls is, AND no entry fee, so I think we should definitely go there for the next meet if that's cool with you all. Just post and give your YAY or NAY. If YAYs get the majority vote, I'll buy a small portable grill for the meets. Also, there are entry points to the park from both east and west George Washington Memorial Parkway, so that's not an issue. Come from I-495 (westside of beltway) or I-395/DC area.
For those of you bringing family to walk some trails or whatever, there are supposed to be some really nice ones here, so hit'm up Let me know whatcha think.
Here's a google map with placemarks for the site.
Cheers, The W3bma5t3r

Hopefully at all the 'nice weather' meets... I'll be buying a small portable grill and I still have a bag and a half of charcoal, along w/ the lighter fluid, etc...
Hope to see you all there. We'll get a tally the week before so we know how much food to bring. Later...

I should be there too. Turkey Run sounds nice (YAY). I'd rather not have to choose the food itself, and I think Hithere now has my insulated bag for drinks, so ... I'll bring whatever non-food items from the list that nobody else states they'll bring. I probably have utensils and foil already.

Unless someone states what they want to bring now, we'll probably figure all that out next week... hope to see ya there bro.

Thanks W3bMa5t3r for pointing me to this thread.
I'd like to come, but my other passion (DC United) causes a conflict on the 19th Hopefully next month.

Glad to see I didn't **** people off with the invites lol (well hopefully). I wasn't too keen on PM'n a lot of folk (sent out about 15 PMs), but I figured one message pointing out this thread would be ok, since others had said they didn't even know these threads existed... and it's not like I'm spamming people lol . Hope to see you all at the upcoming meets.
Spread the word about the meets
