2008 St Louis Area Meet
ST LOUIS AREA MEET: Saturday, September 27th, 2008, 11AM CARONDELET PARK
Location Details:Carondelet Park - Lake Dr and Holly Hills Rd intersection. Take I-55 South from Downtown to exit 202c: Loughborough Ave
GPS Coordinates: 38.563049,-90.263779 For everyone else Google Map.
I'll be at the intersection of Lake Dr and Holly Hills Rd on my lounger in the shade with my MP3Car T-Shirt draped over the back. This park was chosen to not get too far from the riverfront and in order to have a place right off a major highway (I-55 South exit 202c: Loughborough Ave). I know getting back to Illinois from I-55 is a little hazardous, but its the best I could do. Bathrooms are about 500 yards away, but there's plenty of shade, its in a beautiful location, and no park rangers on site.
About the Meet:
For those unfamiliar with the MP3Car meets, everyone welcome, regardless of whether you have a system installed or not. It's a chance to show up and shoot the **** with car pc enthusiasts. A chance to check out one another's installs, bounce ideas off each other, you get the idea. I will be bringing a grill, and everyone generally shows up with random food related items. If you have a taste for something, grilled or otherwise, bring it along, otherwise just show up. I expect us to be there from 11AM until dusk, so come when you can and leave when you have to.
If this goes well, I'd love to emulate the Chicago meets with scheduled monthly gatherings. This post will be updated as the thread/year progresses.

Chicago, Kansas City, Indy, Memphis
Chicago, Kansas City, Indy, Memphis, Nashville, Davenport, Tulsa and all points in between - just a leisurely drive along your favorite Interstate to get here. I need to come up with a prize for whoever travels the longest distance. I remember last year we had someone from Atlanta come up to the Chicago meet.
So who's up for it?

At least a dozen cars and twice as many people.

St Louis is close enough to consider making a trip for a meet. Sadly that's also roughly the time I'm expecting to get my last few parts for my install... If all goes well I may get it in the weekend before though. I guess that makes for some good motivation to do it right the first time

Great to hear it! And the ballgame doesn't take all day! There is no showtime or requirement to stay to the end -- Come and Go as you please. For those wanting pictures of the St Louis skyline, I have several open locations you could try. My Caddy was actually selected for a nationwide 2008 calendar based on the photos I've taken down here.

schedule permitting I may swing by. Only 2 hours north of me.
:EDIT: and for those not native to the area, beware the highways US64/40 are all messed up (On Missouri side - highway is completely closed in some areas - I don't think bridges are effected but I may be wrong on that) so if at all possible avoid a route that has those roads.

But hopefully, flooding won't be a factor in two weeks and the 64/40 shutdown is only for a few miles.

The parts of 64/40 I was talking about aren't shut down for flooding (that I know of). It's been shut down for a while now for construction. Which...in St. Louis...seems to never end.
I don't think it'll be an issue though as it's more west of downtown STL. We just got back from a stay at the Children's Hospital up there and 64/40 was closed starting at 170 on due to construction.

Yep, 40 is closed between 270 and 170 until the end of the year. Then they're closing it between 170 and somewhere downtown.
