a couple pages up, I suggested a place that would be a good meeting location. It's on an old retired airstrip at my school. We use it now for testing our formula SAE car, the cops use it for training, and students in general are allowed to use the area for whatever purposes hey feel like it. In a couple months I'll be helping a friend of mine who is in film school shoot a really cool car chase scene there.
My point is, its paved, really big, close to I95, and can fit a lot of cars. Might be something to consider.
<edit>
oh, btw, i forgot to mention that its free to use as long as the cops aren't hogging it.
OH I remember that....... The place I can haul @$$ down the air strip...... I would love to have our meet there. Its in Boca Raton right?

I wouldn't mind having a meet in Rockledge as it sure beats driving down to Miami. My civic isn't exactly a race car but maybe I can borrow my friend's new genesis coupe and take it for a spin, I have been dying to max that car out.

Sounds like a good location, just one question are there any shaded area's there? Standing in the hot Florida sun for a few hours is not fun

Lok, Where does your friend live? My work is looking for people with the genesis coupe. We are starting to develop part for it and need some people to test out prototypes. Would he be interested? How far is he from boca raton?
Kimota,
there is no shade in the actual lot itself, unless someone brings one of those tent-roof things. When I've gone autocrossing with my work, they would bring one of those, and it seems to work pretty well. There is a covered walkway on campus that is not too far from the lot, with a starbucks. But I don't know how security would feel about a large number of unregistered people congregating on campus. They for sure wouldn't care about us hanging out in the open lot, and most likely if people keep it civil and quiet they wont care about hanging out on he main campus as well. It would probably be best to have the meet on a sunday as that is not as busy as a weekday.

Yea, most airfields do, but this isn't an airfield, it's a retired airstrip. It hasn't seen an airplane since WWII.
The Boca Raton Airport next door has really nice hangers and stuff, but that is fenced off and I doubt we can get in there. Although, if we get really organized and set something up, we might be able to rent it out for a day, but that would probably be pretty expensive. I know there's an annual thing where they fly in old WWII airplanes, and let people come in, walk around, and look at them, but they charge people for that.
I don't think there are many places that are free or low cost, large enough to fit a lot of cars, and have covered air conditioned buildings available. Generally you will probably find something that's 2 out of 3.

We are currently in talks with a company who specializes in ECU flashes for Hyundai cars. Our first project would be to develop a few custom maps that are optimized for our Florida climate and elevation. We have been very successful with this sort of tuning on the Audi/VW platform and are looking to expand to the Genesis market.
The other things that we would like to do once we have a few levels of performance maps made for the stock configuration is start to develop actual parts. some ideas we have thrown around is exhaust, hard pipe kit, larger turbo kit, and of course a larger intercooler kit. The stock intercooler is WAY small, so that would probably be our first physical part that we would develop.
The other car we are really interested in is the new Volvo C30. So, if anyone out there in internet land has either a Genesis or a C30, and lives in FL, and would like to help with development, please let me know.

Well, I've been super super busy and decided to check out when / where the next meetup would be. I actually go to FAU so Boca is pretty close to me. Haha, meetup would be great if my car ever gets out of the shop at the sealership.

OK, so I know John is going to laugh when he sees me posting, because he makes sure to give me crap about not coming to meets more than twice a year, so without making up excuses, I will just take it on the chin.
However, since my current setup has not changed since 2006 (front end, etc) I think it's time to upgrade, as iGuidance 3.0 is missing 90% of the roads around here, and CDRSkull is not making skins anymore (yes, that's how old my setup is). I am looking at RideRunner and other John (JohnWPB's skin) with iGuidance 4.0, etc. It just seems to have everything I need.
The reason I am posting in the Tampa section is to see if anyone local is running something similar to this that I can see in use before I go through the hassle of upgrading. There is no turning back. RoadRunner doesn't exist anymore, Freedom skin doesn't exist, etc.
