FL meet
Howdy all, Newb here...
I have to wonder why not have a meet at an event?
Like at a car show or drag strip ? Something that could
kind of show off? Id love to meet a few people who actually
know something about Carputers, but it cant hurt to turn
around n check out 2 car maken a 10 sec run.
Might just get a lil better attendance too.

I guess because there isnt always an event.... would be hot to go to Morosso in Homestead. Ive been wanting to speed test my truck and do handling tests. I know down here in Miami and in Broward they have car get togethers were people show off their hooked up cars. In Miami I think its every Tuesday and Thursday, I havent gone because I dont consider my car worthy yet.

no offense to everyone including myself, but with all the past car pc meets we had, only like one or two cars (one is a truck) would be imo able to "pass" for a show vehicle. Every one that has shown up to one of the car pc meets, including myself, are pretty much "work in progress".....
Now, I am not saying get mirrors to put under car and velvet rope to put around your car, just that I think we (meaning people coming to the meets and myself included), need to hunker down and actually finish our rides first.
I would love to see some more, ahem, "finished car pc".

Word of advice, DO NOT FINISH YOUR CARPC'S!
I had just finished mine, re-ran all wires and hid them completely, installed the Inverter power controller (Bought from John1701 at a meet 6 months ago). I installed an over ride switch in the dash (OEM switch, placed where an option my car did not have). Installed 3 temperature sensors (One in front of the grill(Exterior Temperature), one at the A/C return above passenger's feet(Interior Temp) and one in the Computer case. I tapped into the mute line for the Parrot Blue tooth, and used it to send a signal to RR to pop up an "Incoming Call" screen. I jumpered a line from the remote start, so when I remote started the car, it would trigger the power controller to turn on the PC. (Remote start does not turn on the ignition so wipers, radio, windows ect will not work till you physically turn on the key) I installed the reverse glow gauges for behind the A/C controls that I had sitting on my delk for 4 months (Same ones to match the ones I bought for the instrument panel and installed over a year ago) Finally, I finished the bezel around the Radio and motorized touch screen.
Doing all the work, I noticed the battery was not holding a charge that well with everything on and testing, so I put a new Die Hard battery in it.
Everything completed, I had it professionally detailed inside and out, cleaning the carpets, upholstery seats and such, that the car looked pretty much brand new. Wanting to keep it that way, I bought some nice top of the line floor mats to finish it all off.
3 days after putting all that work into it, as well as the money, this was all that was left

well i don't know if you guys are familiar with speedworld, but their parking lot is juat a huge grass field, and it doesen't fill up til about 8pm when the jet cars show up, if we park out on the front of speed world we can have our meet as a meet not a show, and then we can go see the jet cars.

Sorry, but I have to wonder
Schedule a meet in Orlando. Postpone it cuz no one is showing up. Cancel the postponed meet cuz still no is showing up.
Rectify this by Scheduling another Orlando meet and try again???

if not enough ppl are goin to show up, there really is no reason to drive 6 hours round trip to the middle of nowhere when no one is showing up. If only 2 ppl are going to show up to any meet, there really is no reason to have the meet.
The middle of nowhere is obviously covered by a black cloud for meets..... dont know why.
orlando will be rescheduled just not for the next meet. The next meet will probably be in one of the other locations that had in the past good turnouts.
So far over the years of trying to have a meet in the middle of nowhere (orlando), only a few ppl have went. This has been tried numerous times already with very little improvements....
So far the best places that have had good turnout of people for meets are:
Broward, Tampa, WPB, Miami, and Labelle in that order.
worst place so far for having a meet is (and I still dont know why) happens to be orlando.
I still get pm's to have meets in orlando and the orlando area and among other cities. I have no probs having a meet in orlando but if only 1 or 2 ppl show up and this is for all the meets, then the meet will be canceled and rescheduled.

OMG, is that a race track? Is it open to the public? I would love to go a few laps around that!!!!!!!!! First i would have to get my ECU reprogrammed so I can go over 110 MPH.... I should be at least able to hit 135 MPH.

LOL that is true, mine was actually in the car (you saw it when i drove you to the bathroom), but now its out again. Even more of my dash is taken apart, and although I have my passenger seat back in (drove without for almost 5 months), I now have a gap in the 2 nd row were the car pc now rests and the finally finished center console will go. Its all up to IEI to get me my new MoBo.
At the same time though.... going there with half a$$ed cars may actually be a good thing. People will be more then willing to give there input on things we can do to improve and finish our cars. I also think the fact that we are putting PCs in our cars will impress people enough that they dont really look at anything else.

Hiya John,
Thought I'd throw this out there... If the five locations above have all worked out well in the past why not just alternate the meets between ONLY the five locations that have worked. (Alternating the meets between Saturday and Sunday would be cool too )
Saves you tons of planing because it’s in a location you already used and makes it easier for regular attendees as they have already been there.

YO...Rijndael and HiJackZX1 BIG What UP!!!! how you boyz been. Ohh Rijndael I know you have the 15" sub up and running right .
P.S

We have been doing that over the years, read some of the florida meet threads.

We tried a few saturday meets and it did not work because the majority of people did not or COULD not show up until after 6pm because people work more on saturday then sunday.

Yes they are sweet, and no I was referring to another vehicle.
